*Isabella*

The darkness and pain I was in was something I myself had never expirienced before. The way I felt myself burning through every inch of my body. I was crying internally, but it was not a pain that seemed as excruciating as I had read before. Was I dead? Is that why I felt nothing? Was this my death? Had the darkness that consumed killed me?

It couldn't have killed me. How else would I have counted my breaths by now? 8,392,102......8,392,103.....

I heard noises around me. Muffled sounds. I felt an even greater burning in my hand. One that was even more excruciating. Was someone trying to make the pain bigger?! The muffled noises were there again. What was that? I didn't know how much time had passed. But every second, I could hear movement. Muffled sounds, a particular sound that grew clearer.

Thump thump.....thump thump.....thump thump... and so on. It grew clearer, louder. As if it was at my ears. As it grew clearer, I realized it was me. That sound was me. It sounded like a heart beat. Was that my heartbeat? It certainly felt like it.

Time had passed and the muffled sounds grew clearer just as the heartbeat.

"I shouldn't have let her do this." A faint voice said. Edward? Emmett? Jasper? Or Carlisle? It sounded to low to be a female voice.

"Don't hurt yourself son, Bella chose her path. It isn't permanent." Another faint voice said. Son? This time it must've been Carlisle.

"Permanent or not, she will be like us. She'll lose her soul. I love her too much to forgive myself for allowing this." The first voice said. Edward.

"Bella is an adult. She makes her choices, Edward. She'll be fine." The voice whom I presumed was Carlisle, said.

Then everything was silent in their conversation. I could hear shuffling around me though. Then some parts of my body hurt even more.

"Alice, what are you doing?" A female voice said. Esme. The voices were almost clear now.

"I want her to be in a nice outfit when she wakes up." Alice's chirpy voice said.

"You know your touch feels like fire to her." Esme said to Alice. So that was the pain. Their touch, it was hurting me.

Moments afterwards, the heartbeat was becoming faint. Lowering each time. It was barely audible to me now, but I could hear it.

I heard footsteps back into wherever I was. "She shouldn't be this still. She should be screaming. Maybe she drank too much of it? Or perhaps it wasn't enough." Edward's voice said.

"No, Edward. Listen to her heartbeat. It's there. She can most likely hear you now." Carlisle said. Yes! I can! Love, I'm here! There's nothing to worry, I'm fine!

"She should wake up soon. 2 minutes." Alice said. 2 minutes? Had it been three days already? I realized where I was again. On the verge of being a vampire. I could feel releif. Like coldness spreading. The fire leaving my body. First my finger tips, then my toes, coming back, retrieving. The fire replaced by the releif of a cold feeling. I could feel my chest burning as my body took deep breaths. The cold ran through my veins, relieving me from the scorching heat. I felt like holding my breath, making me realize it wasn't uncomfortable. I didn't need to get to the 8,393,402nd breath. I had never counted so high.

I focused on another sound. The faint heart.

Thump thump.... thump thump....thump.....thump..........thump.........thump........................... it....stopped. The sound of my heart stopped. Was I dead now?
