*Edward Cullen*

"Why, Edward?" Tanya asked me in the parking lot. We were all alone here as we skipped class.

"We were partners, we had to speak. Besides, I can't read her mind, I thought that if I could get to know her, maybe her mind would open up." I explained to her. Jasper was inside his class, but I could hear his thoughts.

Tanya is really upset, Edward. I don't know if you can hear me, but don't make her mad. Stop lying to her. If you love Isabella Swan, tell her.

The problem was, I didn't know if I loved Isabella Swan. I only had one conversation with the girl, how could Alice and Jasper be so sure that I loved her already? More important, did she love me?

"Why do you have to read one person's mind? You never tried anything to read Cheif Swan's." Tanya stated.

"Becuase this girl pays full attention. She noticed things in seconds that others don't even realize for years." I said to her trying to reason. It was true, Isabella was different, so I technically wasn't lying.

"Alright. Fine. I'm sorry I over reacted." Tanya shrugged.

"It's alright, you just have to understand me. There's something about her that's just not adding up." I said and Tanya nodded. I didn't stop Tanya when she hugged me, I didn't know if this was what a relationship was supposed to be like. I didn't feel what my brothers and sisters did, but I could hear their thoughts. The endless happiness they thought about everytime they were with each other. Alice and Jasper said I loved Isabella, but how was I sure? I didn't know what I was supposed to feel. How could they tell if I didn't even know?

That night, as my family stuck around the house inside with each other, I decided to go for a run. Tanya wanted to stay back to do girl things with Rose and Alice. Alice looked at me before I left and smiled.

She's will be asleep in about 23 minutes. Don't stay there too long, Tanya might catch your scent there later. It will rain tomorrow at 4:50am, if Tanya doesn't go anywhere near the forest for tonight, your scent will wash off.

I nodded once, and I ran out. At first, I ran straight, once I knew I was far enough, I turned towards town. I ran as fast as I could to be able to see her again. I ran and ran until I finally reached the forest behind her home. I which of these windows would be hers? I couldn't read her mind so how would I know? I heard three people talking downstairs.

"C'mon Charlie, you gotta have something. Nina and I used to get our mother mad because we would always run and break the highly priced vases she had in the hallways." A girl said laughing, who's voice I recognized to be Bella's. Wasn't he her father? Why call him by his name?

"Okay okay, when I was little, we used to run around all over town, me and my friends. My mother, I remember she used to get so mad at me for coming home all dirty. We used to love making her mad, so we would come back full of mud and run around inside the house until she catched us." Charlie said laughing. They all laughed.

"It seems like the years pass by so fast. Just yesterday we were all just kids." A female voice said, Nina. Nina was 16, yet she always sounded and acted older. It was really weird in a way, she was very mature for her age.

"Alright, enough Pizza for me, I'm going to go shower and then I'm going to bed." Bella said. I could hear hear getting up and walking upstairs. Then a light was turned on upstairs, there was shuffling, then she left that room and went to turn on another light in another room. This time I could hear hear close the door and start the water. I figured the first room was her bedroom. I ran there and silently crawled up through the tree next to her room and peaked in. The room was organized, there was a some boxes that looked to still hold things, her bed had a purple bedding. She had a few pictures of her and her sister, a few of other girls and a woman, she had so many books.
