ruby felt on edge everywhere he went, as if everyone knew the events that occurred a few days ago. he felt as if everyone was staring and just waiting for him to spill the beans and confirm the gossip that they had seen him get off the vehicle that belonged to the house at the end of 7th street. he knew he needed to relax, that it was all in his head that someone might have seen him. he also knew if he kept up this jumpy act someone will start to wonder what's wrong with him and pester him until they figured out what was wrong with the young boy.

ruby found the older woman extremely beautiful. her black curls that looked silky and well taken care of, her big dark brown eyes that shinned in the dim light of the moon. the endless amount of tattoos that covered her arms, the countless amount of piercings that adorned her ear, the nose rings, the middle lip piercing, all these things that would scream overdone or too much but suited her face in the most perfect way. the innocent look, almost a baby face, she had balanced out the amount of edgy things about her. ruby wanted nothing more than to get to know her better and break down why she never steps a foot outside or why no one visits her.

ruby and athena instantly clicked, she was the big sister he always wanted and if anything saw the young mom as a second mom. although ruby hasn't seen her since that night but he would occasionally sneak quick glances toward the house on his way to school, only a few times he saw the white car parked in her driveway. ruby knew she was working but hoped she would come out and invite him in, but he knew that would never happen. he was too shy to ask to go over or take her offer of having her drive him somewhere. after ruby texted her the other night that he was home with no problem she responded almost instantly letting him know she had also arrived safe, the conversation ended with a goodnight and was kept like that for a whole day. when athena texted ruby to check up on him he felt his heart warm. he knew she was busy with work and her son but she made time to make sure he was okay and ruby greatly appreciated that. to ruby's surprise a few days later athena invited ruby over to meet her son, he didn't know how he was going to make it into her house without raising an eyebrow or causing a scene but he knew one thing for sure, he was going to see her no matter what.
