as soon as the lockdown was announced through the speakers of a shitty old police car. it was weird for freeridge to go on lockdown so late in the night. usually cops didn't give a shit once the sun went down. ruby rolled his eyes at the stupid gang members that ruined everyone's night by deciding to shoot each other for fun, for some stupid beef they've had. ruby grew a strong hate for gangs, I mean who could blame him. they killed the love of his life and could've potentially ended his. he thought about that encounter he had with spooky the other day while he was walking to jamal's. how he saw a different side of spooky that day, a more caring side. he was still angry but he knew spooky had done everything in his power to call a truce, and let the people of freeridge have time to mourn on the loss of the young girl.

ruby's mind instantly went to think of athena. in a split second ruby had typed out a text to see if her and the little guy were okay and if they needed anything he could safely and secretly rush over there. he felt bad for the young mother, she escaped something horrible and is now back to a gang affiliated city. where nobody gave a fuck about anything. athena responded almost instantly to his text and pulled him out of his thoughts. athena was fine but just worried that something might have happened to sammy. hearing gun shots so close to your house can be a bit traumatic and scary. athena went on to say she heard some so close to her home and tried her best to keep matias entertained so he couldn't cry. ruby knew matias caught the vibe from athena, matias was a smart baby.

loud knocking also interrupted his train of thought. he would be lying if he said he wasn't slightly scared of the rapid and desperate knocks on his front door. ruby debated if he should even dare to think about opening the door. his mom would kick his ass if she found out he opened the door while he was alone. ruby decided to at least check who it was through the little peep hole. as he approached the door the knocks became rapid and more desperate. his hands slightly shaky and clammy, he walked closer. "ruby! ruby! please open the door" ruby instantly recognized the voice, it was cesar.
"th- they shot everyone, dead they're all dead"
