once athena was in the shower oscar took the time to think about everything that went down today. how he really lost probably the best of his men tonight. how he didn't take enough precautions on the meeting today. he was a call of anger and he failed to do things he normally does when he calls those meetings. his mind drifted to how big of an effect this tiny family has on him. how he left his own family for them.
oscar knew the care was mutual between them, or at least he hoped. but the way athena took care of each of them made his assumption true. how she had the same amount of worry over a scratch to a bullet wound. how she took her time with each of them.
his mind drifted to how he felt when she kissed his cheek or how her calling him sweetheart or even just addressing him made him nervous. oscar wasn't sure why his heart would beat a little faster or how he was loss for words at times. he also knew that she wasn't someone he could have, he didn't move like that and he never will. but he couldn't get they way she blushed when he winked at her or how flustered when they bumped into each other in the hallway, and it didn't make sense one bit to him.
oscar wondered why athena wanted to return home, almost like she wanted to say it before he did. how scared she looked when they dumped into each other and how fast she was to apologize for anything he did. he thought of sammy could possibly be the reason behind this behavior but seeing the way his eyes light up when she comes around tells him otherwise and an assumption like that shouldn't even cross his mind.
oscar looked at the baby laying on his stomach and sighed. sammy really had everything he wanted or everything he once had. a girl with a good head on her shoulders, a perfect healthy baby and at such a young age. oscar didn't want to let his mind travel to the place it took him so long to get out of. kissing matias on the forehead he let himself drift into a peaceful sleep.
matias moves around in his sleep causing oscar to wake up. he realized that he didn't know where athena had gone to sleep. the plan was for her to sleep in here. he quickly got up and peeked into sammys room to find it empty, he walked down the hallway seeing her on the couch sleeping peacefully. he took a moment to look at her. her curls were still damp and clung to his grey shirt leaving the smallest dark stain. how his shirt looked like a dress on her. and he stood there admiring her. she moved in her sleep and tried to protest sleeping in his room but ended going.
oscars heart felt heavy as he heard her silent cries. how he could tell she was trying to calm herself down by taking deep breaths. oscar wanted to do nothing more than run in there and tell her it'll all be okay and he'll always be there for her, but it wasn't his place. oscar sat in the couch until he silent cries were no longer heard. he made sure all the doors were locked and fell into a peaceful sleep.
