N I N E T E E N

     athena was always on edge. extremely attached to matias. getting her shifts covered at work. the slightest noise would fill her body with panic and fear. zeus started to aggressively bark, the sound of the thick sliver chain rattling signaling that he was trying to move forward. she froze, her body felt cold and her heart was beating faster than ever. as zeus's barks got more aggressive she snapped out of it, running to pick up matias from his playpen on the floor. grabbing her phone and ran into her bedroom. she knew it wasn't the smartest idea to lock herself in rather than just leaving through the front door, but she didn't want to risk it. where she came from she knew they would have the house surrounded.

     athena tried to stay calm for matias. knowing he could start crying at any moment. she wanted to keep him safe and keeping him calm was the best option. she quietly sang Eso y Mas to him and rocking him slightly. athena thought about everything. it also crossed her mind that no one dared to go near their house because of some weird saying that she was a witch. los santos didn't know where they lived, let alone the prophets. it was probably a random person trying to hide from the cops. but then again she got rolled up on a week ago. desperate gang members do stupid things to try and show out. zeus had calmed down but was still barking. matias picked up his head at the sound of his barking and looked at athena. his tiny eyebrows slightly furrowed. athena's heart melted, her baby was so precious and she would do anything to protect him.

     she lightly kissed his forehead and smoothed out his eyebrows with her finger, continuing to sing to him. she noticed his eyes flutter closed and lightly kissed him again. she wanted to block out the barking and the fear. she gave herself a pep talk and calmed down. she knew those sloppy gang members weren't about it. she knew it just with the way they held the gun, even if it was just to show off, she knew. she grew up surrounded around guns, even to show off they would always hold it properly. but as she thought before, a desperate gang member will do ANYTHING to prove how down they were.

    zeus finally stopped barking and athena instantly relaxed and let go of a breath she didn't even know she was holding in. the feeling of relief only lasted a few seconds. multiple gun shots, police sirens, the wind and noise the chopper flying through, were heard. athena prayed they weren't near her home. matias started to cry, zeus was going crazy in the backyard and all athena heard was the loud voice warning that the block was on lockdown. her first instinct was to protect and clam matias down. her mind then traveled to sammy and began to panic. she knew there was a truce between the gangs but anything could happen.

    athena had a bad feeling about sammy. her gut feeling was ALWAYS right. it had been 20 minutes and sammy hadn't answered her. panic filled her body once more. she didn't know what she would do without him. athena was never as religious as sammy but she prayed and prayed that sammy, along with the rest of the gang, was safe and okay.

     athena's cheeks were stained with tears, her hands along with her breath. her heart felt heavy with every fast beat. her body was filled with worry and panic. she gave herself a different pep talk than the one she had given herself earlier. matias was now  laying on her chest while he watched the random cartoon in front of them. athena created the best scenarios in her head, avoiding the worst ones. but nothing would prepare her for what really happened.
