(Third Person)
Logan saw Patton several times after that encounter, more often then not at the library where he worked. The two quickly started becoming friends, exchanging numbers so they could talk more.Virgil was getting older, being able to make out words now, and even said his first word which was of course "Papa". Logan had a skip in his step for a whole week after that.
Logan started studying Science and looking into the subject of space, fascinated by everything to do with it.
Logan was on his way home from work when he got a phone call. The Dr. Who theme rung out, catching his attention quickly. He pulled out his phone, almost dropping it when he saw who was calling. Delilah.
The librarian quickly awnsered, mellowing out his tone to avoid showing nervousness. "Hello?"
"Long time no see Logan. Tell me, how's being a faggot going?" Delilah spoke, her voice sounding suspiciously cocky.
Logan flinched at the insult. "Is there is specific reason as to why you called or have you only come to mock me?"
Delilah laughed on the other line. "I just wanted to let you know that I am going to fight for custody over MY son Virgil."
Logan froze, going wide eyed. "W-what..?"
"You heard me. I don't want my son to be raised by a fag and grow up to be one, so im taking you to court." If it was possible, Delilah's voice was even more cocky and evil.
Logan grew angry. "You can't just abandon him then try to take him back!"
"Watch me!" Was all Delilah said before she hung up.
Logan was furious, confused, and just plain upset. After almost a year after she left, Delilah was going to try and take his son away. The librarian sighed angrily, sliding his hands under his glasses and rubbing his eyes. He had missed too much sleep recently and it was starting to show.
"Hey, you okay?" A familiar voice spoke.
Logan dropped his hands to his sides, turning to see Patton walking up. "Im... Ugh I can't lie to you. Ive been doing awful lately.."
Patton grew a worried face, extending his arms. "Wanna hug?"
Logan ignored the blush that flooded his face as he moved in and hugged Patton tightly.
"Tell me what's going on." Patton said, pulling from the hug.
Logan thought for a minute. "Not here... Would you like to come to my house so I can explain better?" He asked, really hoping Patton said yes.
"Sure!" Patton smiled, following Logan as the stoic man started to walk in the direction of his house.
Once the two arrived, Logan paid the sitter and took Virgil from them. The sitter left and Logan gestured to Patton to sit down. "Patton, this is my son Virgil."
Patton went stary eyed, smiling his signature smile as the baby spoke. "Papa! Ish a fw-fwien!" Virgil cooed.
"Yes it is Virgil." Logan smiled down at his son before looking at Patton with a serious look. "I found out today that... My ex, Virgil's mother, is going to try to take Virgil away.."
Patton gasped, standing up. "But! Why?!" He asked, desperation in his voice.
"I dont know. She abandoned him after I... Came out as gay and now she's trying to take him.."
Patton was pacing now. "I hate homophobic people! Why can't they just accept us and accept we can raise children just fine!?"
Logan went wide eyed at the words 'us' and 'we'. Was Patton gay? Logan watch Patton pace.
"When is the court date?" Patton asked, sitting back down on the couch.
"Next week. Too soon in my opinion." Logan stated, holding Virgil close.
"Well! Im sure you can win Logan!" Patton said with a hopeful smile.
Time skip
Logan got ready while the sitter was arriving. He straightened his tie and dusted off his pants, worried for what might come.
The court date came quicker than he would have liked and he just hoped he had a good case.
Once the sitter arrived, Logan went downstairs, holding Virgil. "Hello Thomas. Thank you for coming on such short notice." Logan said, handing Thomas the baby.
"It's really no problem Mr. Sanders!" Thomas smiled, happily accepting Virgil into his arms. "Goodluck!"
Logan thanked him and left the house, having to walk to the courthouse in his suit because his car was still broken at the library.
He finally arrived, heading inside and meeting up with his lawyer. The lawyer seemed stressed out as they organized their papers. "What seems to be the problem Joan?" Logan asked, worried himself.
"We are going against Damian Deceit! The best lawyer in the business." Joan said, holding his suitcase close to his chest.
Logan was more than worried now. "We can't give up. I need to keep my son."
Joan looked at Logan and nodded, heading into the court room. The session began, Damian was first to call witnesses and speak.
Near the end, Delilah pulled the dirtiest lie she could, causing Logan to not only lose custody of Virgil, but to lose visitation rights.
"He has really bad anger issues and would often hit me and the baby." Delilah said in a fake sad tone while she was up on the stand.
"That's a lie! Joan, she's lying!" Logan said to his lawyer, becoming panicked.
Joan stood. "Objection! Logan has never once hit his son or the witness!"
The judge looked confused and guilty. "Im sorry, but she is under oath.. I find the defendant guilty." Logan looked horrified. "You are here by sentanced to one year in prison for abuse and loss of custody over Virgil Anx Sanders. You have one day to say goodbye before you are taken to the prison down town." The judge hit his gavel down, ending the session.
Logan looked shattered, tears streaming his face. Not only had he lost Virgil, but he was going to jail for a dirty lie. He was escorted out and taken home by an officer. The officer waited outside Logan's house in case he tried to run, while Logan went inside.
Thomas smiled, but that smile soon fell after he saw Logan's face. Logan thanked and paid him before taking Virgil.
Virgil was dressed in a caterpillar onsie, smiling when he saw his father. Logan gave Virgil a faint smile before heading upstairs. Logan sat Virgil down on the bed, laying on his stomach next to him as he did so.
Virgil had a toy caterpillar in his hands. "Buhfwy papa!" He shouted, setting it down.
"Eventually Virgil..." Logan said in a sad voice. "Hey Virgil.. You're.. Gonna go away for awhile." Logan said, tears coming to his face.
Virgil looked confused. "Wha bouh papa?" He questioned.
"Papa's gonna go away for awhile too.. I don't know when I will see you next, but I promise we'll see eachother again.. Even if I die trying.." Logan said, closing his eyes.
Virgil looked confused, but nodded.
"Okai papa"
