DEREKS POV
Meredith and I were now getting the kids ready to go to my moms. I don't really mind family dinners that much, but tonight I was kinda worried. I know Amelia doesn't want to go and I don't blame her, but I'm not gonna let her stay home all by herself and be unhappy because of it. I wanted her to bring Owen because he brings her all the happiness in the world, but she refused. I mean I get it, kinda. I looked over at Meredith who was doing Zola's hair and I smiled. I was putting Bailey's shoes on.
"Thanks daddy!" He smiled.
"Of course buddy," I smiled and kissed his head. I got up and walked down the hall to Amelias door.
"Hey Amy were almost ready," I said, "are you?"
"Yeah give me a minute," She sniffled, it was obvious that she was crying. I went to turn the doorknob and it was locked.
"Amy?" I said.
"Yeah give me a minute," she said.
"Open the door," I said.
"Derek," She said in a small voice.
"I will break the door down," I said. She reluctantly opened the door and she was wiping her tears.
"What's wrong?" I said.
"What happens when Owen finds out? Or if I tell him Derek? What if he doesn't like me anymore? I know if I tell him he'll never look at me the same way, and I can never bring him to our family because they can never let that go, and I'll be an entirely different person, and Derek, what if he doesn't like me anymore," she said, which broke my heart.
"Amelia," I started, "Amelia I promise he won't stop liking you okay? If anything he's going to care for you more, and if he does look at you differently, it would be because he sees a stronger person than he did before, and entirely stronger woman, Amelia I've known Owen forever, and I promise he wouldn't leave you over that, because he would know you're recovering and rebuilding after that, and he would do everything to help you because that's who he is, and he cares about you." She sniffled and smiled.
"You think so?" She asked in a small voice.
"I know so," I said. She smiled and I hugged her.
"You almost ready?" I asked.
"Yeah," she said and then ran back into her bathroom. I heard someone walk up behind me and I turned and it was Meredith.
"She Okay?" She asked.
"Yeah," I said. She brought the kids out to the car and a few moments later Amelia's bedroom door opened. She smiled and I smiled.
"Ready?" I asked.
"Yeah," she said. We walked out to the car and Zola smiled.
"Daddy can I sit next to Aunty Amelia please?" She begged. Amelia smiled and chuckled.
"Of course you can," Amelia smiled.

AMELIAS POV
Zola sat down next to me and I smiled. She was so cute. My phone buzzed and I looked down and it was Owen.
"What are you up to tonight?" It read. I frowned and kinda wished I asked him to come along after what Derek said.
"Being dragged to a family dinner lol," I sent.
"Exciting," he sent.
"Yeah," I sent.
"Wanna hangout after?" He sent.
"Yes," I sent.
"Okay, text me when," he said.
"Okay," I sent with a heart.
"Is that Uncle Owen?" Zola asked.
"Yeah," I blushed. She smiled and nuzzled into my arm. I shut my phone off as we pulled into my moms driveway. The kids got out with Meredith and I walked over to Derek.
"This was probably a bad idea," I said.
"No it's not," Derek said.
"Um easy for you to say," I chuckled, "golden child."
"Should have asked Owen to come," Derek chuckled, "mom loves Owen probably more than me." I chuckled and Zola rang the door bell. Nancy opened the door and I immediately regretted this decision.
"Amelia?" She smiled.
"Hi," I said.
"Omg Come here!" She smiled and hugged me, which was weird.
"Hi," I smiled and saw my mom come out of the kitchen.
"Amelia honey!" She smiled and ran over to me.
"Hi mom," I smiled and hugged her. And as much as I didn't want to be here, it kinda felt nice.
