Chapter 20

15 years and 4 months earlier.

Author's POV

In the matter of no time, Cragen, Fin, Casey, Alex, Melinda, Amanda and Nick were at the hospital. Munch was also on his way.

Casey was very upset and looked terrible. Alex's mascara had run down her cheeks, and the other's were all very worried.

Noah was awake now, and was sitting on Fin's knee, relaxing, he didn't have lots of energy today as he usually had, he probably had a little fever...

They were all waiting. And waiting and waiting. No one said a word. Everyone were trapped in their own minds, thinking of Olivia.

Munch arrieved, and even he didn't have anything to say.

Two hours passed and not a word from the doctor. Casey was looking very uncomfortabe at the moment so Melinda asked her if she was okey.

"Uhm. I'm just worried about Liv.. And I have these back pains all the time.. Coming and going minutes apart.."

Melinda actually smiled when she said it. Everyone looked confused at her. How could she smile when Olivia was in surgery?!

"Casey!!" Melinda squeeled, "you're having contractions!!"

"Wh. What?!!" Casey said surprised but a bit scared. "But I can't go into labour while Olivia is struggling for her life!!! And besides; I'm not due before next week!"

"Seems like babygirl didn't get the memo! I'll go fetch a doctor!" Melinda said hurrying out of the waiting room.

A moment later she was back with a doctor. "You're going into labour?!" He said smiling. "Yup seems like it. I have contractions five minutes apart. Alex please call Ben." She said before another pain shot through her back.

The doctor got her up, and sat her in a wheeling chair, and drove her to a delivery room. Melinda went with her whule Alex called Casey's husband.

15 minutes later Benjamin was there. He was as red as a tomato, and looked like he'd been running the whole way.

"Where is she?!" He said trying to catch his breath.

"In the delivery room down the hall!" Alex said pointing directions. "Good luck!" She yelled as he ran towards the room.

When he came in, Melinda went out in the waiting room again. "She's doing great. She's like 9cm dialated so it won't be long untill she's in full labour! Any news on Olivia?"

Elliot shook his head.

Casey's situation had lifted the pressure in the room abit, but Elliot still didn't talk much. Little Noah was playing Lego on the floor, but also he was very quiet.

They waited for fifteen more minutes untill a nurse came.

"Okay, I have a few news. First mr. Stabler, your ex-wife Kathy has been put under arrest for attempted murder, and is being questioned in her room, since she's still hospitilized. Olivia is still in surgery, and we don't have anything conclusial yet, and Casey Novak is in full labour at the moment. It looks like it's going very fast for her, so maybe you'll her baby crying in not so long time." The nurse explained with a small smile and ten she left again.

Now every one where looking at Elliot, and he realized he hadn't told them about Kathy.

"Uhm, okay here we go. Kathy was the one hitting Olivia. She drove right into Olivia's side of the car and sent Olivia's car across the street where it hit another car. It was all Kathy's fault, she's been blaiming us for Kathleens death.." He explained while tears slowly started rolling down his cheeks.

Everyone were shocked and angry.

Another hour and a half passed without many news except the nurse saying that Liv still was in surgery.

Then Benjamin came out looking very happy.

"It's a babygirl! The birth went really well and fast! Casey want's Alex and Melinda to come in first!" He said very proudly. Everyone hugged him and contratulated him, and then Alex and Melinda went to Casey.

"Oh my god, congratulations!!!" Alex and Melinda squeeled. "She's the cutest baby ever!!" Alex said looking at the sleeping newborn.

"Thank you! I know right! How's Olivia?" Casey asked proud, yet concirned for her best friend.

"Still in surgery.." Melinda said sadly.

Alex and Melinda got to hold the little girl, and then Benjamin, Fin, Amanda, Nick and the cap'n came in, one by one, welcoming the little one.

Two hours later when Casey had relaxed for a while, Alex came in.

"Casey, Olivia's surgery is over. They couldn't help her.. She's awake right now, but she'll most likely die in the matter of an hour or so. Her head injurie was bad, and her heart is starting to fail. If you want to see her, you better come now." Alex said crying.

Even though Casey was in pain after giving birth, she quickly stood up. "Ben please carry the baby. I want Olivia to see her."

They went to Olivia's room, where all the others already were. Elliot was holding her hands, and Noah was cuddling up against her. She looked terrible. Cuts and bruises all over her face.

She looked very weak, but when Casey, Alex, Benjamin and the babygirl entered her room, she managed to smile very weakly.

"Con.. Gratula.. Tions." She mumbled trying to be cheerfull.

Casey got tears in her eyes.

"Here. Hold your little goddaughter."

Benjamin put the sleeping baby in Olivia's good arm. Olivia looked very happy even though she got weaker by the moment.

"What's her name?" Elliot asked curiously.

Casey looked and Benjamin who nodded smilingly.

"Her name is Rachel Olivia Novak. Offcourse she had to be named after the strongest women I know!" Casey said while a single tear rolled down her cheek.

Olivia also had tears in her eyes.

"I love you Rachel." She said.

Just as she said it, Rachel woke up and looked with big blue eyes at Olivia.

Casey took a picture on her phone of them.

But then Olivia started coughing.

Benjaming took Rachel, so Olivia didnmt have to worry about her. Noah got a bit scared and sat up.

"Mommy are you sick?" He asked. Olivia stopped coughing and turned to her toddler, collecting all her remaining powers to say to the little boy: "Yeah pumpkin. Mommy's sick, and I'm gonna go to heaven just as we talked about last time mommy was in the hospital. But I'm gonna stay in you heart, and I'll always be with you where ever you go." She paused to get her breath back. Noah stood up in the bed and hugged his mother.

"Mommy I luw you. Forever." He said silently, making everyone touched.

"I love you too pumpkin. Forever."

Then she layed back down and Noah layed down beside her snuggling hus head in her arm.

Oliia started coughing again, and blood came up too.

They rang for the doctor but when he came in. Olivia had stopped coughing.

Elliot was crying, and so were everyone else.

Olivia Benson. The strongest women they had ever known was laying lifeless in the hospital bed next to her little son. Noah kissed his mother's cheek. "Did she go to heaven?" He asked innocent.

"Yeah buddy. She did." Alex answered and picked Noah up.
