Chapter 19

15 years and 4 months earlier

Author's POV

Olivia screemed as her side of the car was hit by another car, and Olivia's car was sent across the road where it hut a third car. Sounds of metal against metal filled the air, and Olivia's screems stopped.

People who witnessed the accident hurried to the three involved cars. Olivia's car was crushed, and no one was able to open the doors to get Olivia out. But the window was smashed, so a guy tried to get contact with her while a women called for an ambulance.

"Can you hear me?" The guy said, feeling if Olivia had a pulse.

Olivia opened her eyes briefly, and tried to say yes, but only a muffle sound came from her lips.

Pain was racing through her body.

Far away she could hear sirens.

Then someone talked to hear, but she couldn't make out any words.

As the ambulance people and firemens were working together on clipping of the car ceiling, Olivia was fading away.

After a while she felt herself being lifted from the car seat, but then it all went black.

At home, Elliot was playing with Noah when his phone rang.

"Elliot Stabler?"

"Yes, that's me."

"We're sorry to inform you that your ex-wife Kathy Stabler has been in a car accident. Her state is critical, and you're still listed as her emergency contact, so could you please come to the hospital?" The male voice said.

Elliot was slightly shocked, but agreed to come to the hospital.

He put a coat on Noah, and took his own car. On the way he tried to call Olivia to tell her what was going on, but it went straight to voicemail.

As he parked outside the hospital, Cragen called him, but Elliot decided not to answer, and instead he turned of his phone as he and Noah entered the hospital.

He asked the nurse at the reception if she had any news on Kathy, and she said she would ask the doctor while Elliot could wait in the waitingroom.

On his way to the waiting area, doctors rushed through the halls with a women on a stretcher yelling about surgery and that she was flatlining.

As they ran past Elliot, the blood in his veins froze to ice.

"Wait!" Elliot yelled at the doctors.

One of them stopped and turned to Elliot while the others kept going, but when this one doctor stopped, Elliot got a better view at the women.

"What is it sir?" The doctor asked slightly annoyed.

"What happened to that women and who is she?" Elliot asked hoping to be wrong.

"We haven't identified her yet, but she was in a carcrash sir. Do you know her?"

"I.. I think it was my girlfriend." Elliot said very weakly.

"Sorry sir, could you repeat that? Did you say it is your girlfriend?"

"Yes! Yes I think it is my girlfriend. What's wrong with her? This is her son you know! She can't die! She's a cancer survivour!!" Elliot said starting to freak out.

"Calm down sir. She was in a car accident where another vehicle crashed into her side of the car. The car was sent across the road where it hit another car. She flatlined a while ago, and she was rushed into surgery. I'll go in and see what's going on, and then I'll come back to inform you okay?" The doctor asked.

Elliot just nodded. He couldn't believe it.

Olivia had been in a car accident. And Kathy had been in a car accident. It was a weird coincidence, but Elliot didn't think much of it at the time. His mind was only on Olivia.

Noah was sleeping in the sofa and Elliot just sat there. Waiting.

Twenty minutes later the doctor came back.

"Stabler. You're girlfriend is in sergury. Her name is Olivia Benson right? We found her police badge."

Elliot nodded.

"Well, she's in surgery. At the moment I can't tell you if she will pull through, since it's pretty critical, but I can tell you that both of her knees are broken, aswell as several ribs. Both her legs are injured. Her right leg pretty severly...

The glass from the car window has cut through the skin on her face, and she has a severe head injury.

As I said before, her condition is critical, and we might loose her. She's not so strong, since her chemotherapy has weakened her immunesystem.. She has flatlined twice, but we managed to get her back. Right now it doesn't look to good, and I suggest, that you contact the rest of her family." The doctor explained.

Elliot was completely shocked.

Tears were running down his cheeks when a nurse came out to him.

"Mr. Stabler? Your ex wife will be okay.

She had a concussion, some broken ribs, a broken hand and a broken foot, but she'll be fine." The nurse explained.

Then Elliots face got a weird look. "Nurse... You said Kathy was in a car accident. Could you please tell me what happened?"

"Well as the police told us, Kathy was driving her car, but most likely lost control of it and crashed into the side of another car which wassent across the road bedore hitting a third car. The driver of the second car is in critical condition I think.. "

Elliot's shock got turned into pure anger.

"Nurse. Could you please inform the police that it was no accident. I am 100% sure that my ex-wife tried to kill my girlfriend. She was the driver of the second car!" Elliot said angry through nearly closed teeths.

When the nurse dissapeared, Eeliot called Cragen.

"Cragen"

"Hi it's Elliot."

"Hi Stabler. Do you know where Liv is? She didn't come in for wo-."

"Get everyone down to the hospital. Liv was in a car crash. It's not looking good."
