The Girls await in the gardens.
"They look like a field of pink and blue flowers." I chuckle. "Their hair is all done the same. Same smile, same posture, same people."
"Are you ready, sir?" Adam interrupts me. "They await you."
I fix my collar, and head out to meet the maidens.

Many curtsy at the sight at me. Their nervous laughter slowly filling the gardens. They whisper, wondering who I am going to talk to, who I will choose as my wife. I see a girl different from the rest. Her dress a soft cream, with a vibrant yellow bow around her waist. Her blonde curls blowing in the breeze.

"Good morning ladies." I say taking a bow.
They curtsy and greet me warmly. But I feel there is an uneasiness with one of the ladies. I approach the lady in the cream dress.
"Would you like to go for a walk" I gesture for her to come.
I see the other ladies practically glare at her. She swiftly says farewell to those whom she was talking to and took my arm. I stopped several metres away from the crowd.

"Fair Lady, what may I call you?" I ask her. Cautious of her motives
She paused as if thinking whether or not to answer.
"My name is Jane, your Honour." She curtsies.
"Well Jane I hope you may enjoy the company of the court. But I want to know you some more.." I step closer, so I can whisper. "Why do you want to be my Queen?"

Jane P.O.V

I don't know what to say. Does he know why I am actually here?
"Why do I need a reason to be in love?" I reply, whispering the words into his ear.
He smiles at my answer.
"Good reply" His smile widens. "So what's yours motive. Fame, riches or is it power." He circles me. Assessing every aspect of me. His smile now gone.
"None, I am here to find my love. Even if it means changing my life to be with him." I follow him with my eyes.
"Well then, Lady Jane, I believe people are waiting for us. And I don't want to keep the others waiting." He walks off ahead.
I sigh. I thought they had figured out our plan. I walk back to the group. My heart pounding as if it had forgotten how to beat properly. I decide to talk among the other ladies.

I look up searching the crowd for him. I spot him near the fountain. He looks at me. Our eyes meet. I feel my cheeks burn and turn a crimson red. A rush of emotions washes over me. Emotions I have never felt before.
"He's an airhead." I murmur under my breath. Reminding myself of the mission. Win his heart, take the crown, take the kingdom. I sigh. I continue talking to the other women wanting to be his bride.

"He is so nice." A lady in a floral pink dress exclaims.
"And handsome " Another adds.
Idiots.
As more girls talk about his looks and standards, I walk over to a seat in the corner of the garden.
"This is going to be a long day." I take a deep breath. Resting my head in my hands.

Adam P.O.V

"I see Michael be swarmed by the girls. And yet he can control them all. Girls these days are desperate to find the right man. Well, I mean the right man with heaps of cash. I know how the previous Queen was treated. She was abused and beaten before my eyes. Yet in the public's eyes she was beautiful, looked after and cared for. Even her son believed this. So when she died the people mourned, but the king didn't shed a tear. For he knew why she died." I pause.
"But Michael is a greater man than his father. He has his mother's soul in his father's carcass." I look to the other servants. They all nod with approval.

A few hours pass. I've noticed he has his eye on a girl. The one that stands out. The one that goes against the current. She has been watching him too. But I am not sure about her. She seems harmless, but you can never tell from a glance. They have been non-stop blushing when their eyes meet. Unlike the usual girls who either faint or giggle.

"Adam" Someone breaks my train of thought.
"Yes." I call.
"The feast is almost ready"
I ran off to assess the seating arrangements and if Michael wants to make any changes. I step out into the crowd of girls. I feel intimidated by this array of blue and pink. I tunnel through them, searching for Michael. I see his head above the others. I continue in his direction trying to dodge flying hands and un-observant females.

I finally reach Michael, my lungs gasping for air.
"Michael" I force the words out, "Michael"
He looks down at me."Yes, Adam"
I stand up, finally catching my breath "Do you want any changes to the table seating for dinner?"
He concentrates on this question. I can alway tell, the crease in his brow gives it away.
"Yes actually" he says, "Change the lady in cream to my table."
"Yes , Sir." I hesitate. "What is her name?"
"Jane..." his voice trails off.
Strange.
I walk off to finish the seating arrangements. Still puzzled by how distant he was.

I know he likes her. I've been his friend for a while and I can tell. Caught up in these thoughts I trip and fall into one of the ladies. She looks down at me.
Her once soft features of her face change to a sour look. She sighs.
"I am sorry, M'lady" I stutter
She pauses "It's all right.... " she says while helping me up. Her sour look still slightly visible. In a blink of an eye, it is replaced by a sweet smile.
Strange.
I quickly bow, not wanting to make her angry (again) and walk off.

That's the girl in the cream dress. That's the Jane he has been admiring for the last two hours.. The thought of him falling for a girl like that is inconceivable. Absolutely impossible. I continue walking, not wanting to be caught up in girl drama. I make my way through corridors and then into the dining room.

That is why men rule. We are strong, we are smart, we actually aren't attention seeking drama queens. And most importantly. WE. AREN'T. FAKE.
