Jane POV

It's been two days since I have woken up. Charlotte has been in and out of my room. I figured out that this place I am in, is the hospital. And Dr Byrne has taught me about the different machines in the room and what they do. There is a machine that shocks peoples hearts, there is a tank that contains oxygen. I have heard rumors about these things. Many in fact, but I would never phantom actually seeing them.

During the two days I have been awake for, the prince still hasn't woken up. The doctors said it was something to do with the poison. My mind takes me back to that night. All the memories coming back, as if the floodgates of my mind were opened.

What would happen if the Prince were to die?

Who would take the throne?

Would the Queens be able to conquer?

All these questions start to fog my mind. I shake my head, trying to clear it again. Today I could go back to the house- well more so mansion, where all the other girls are staying. I have been trying to avoid all the attention, as well as all the other suitors. The noble girls-they don't act like ladies- treat the rest like dirt and expect automatic respect. They make it clear that they don't like you.

As I walk through the gates of the estate, I get many glances. Some of admiration and respect, others of hatred and jealousy.

Why would they be jealous of me?

I roll my eyes at these girls, shaking my head dismissing the thought itself. I continue to walk to the house. More girls start to appear the closer I get to the house itself. They whisper to one another, their looks keep getting thrown towards me.

I start to feel self conscious. I have never felt more judged in my life.

Just ignore them. You are a Queen.

I raise my head higher, not letting these girls get to me. I open the door and I am confronted with a horde of girls. Not a normal, crazy frenzy like you'd expect. No, they weren't gushing over guys in higher power. No. I am met with girls weeping and crying. And if they weren't weeping, they were comforting the sobbing girls. I just stare at the sight in front of me. Outside of the house, everyone seemed composed at least. In here it was just a mess. I cough, disturbing the crying fest.

Their heads all snap up to look at me. I cough again, making sure that I have all of their attention.

"Excuse me, I mean not to intrude, but how is crying going to help the prince?" I glare out at the crowd. "How is this going to help anyone?"

No one dared to talk. They all know that this behavior wasn't going to help anyone.

Noticing this I continue, "We must set an example. If we are running around and breaking down all the time, what will everyone else do? They will follow our lead, they will all be distressed-"

A girl ran into the house. Slamming the door so hard that I think it dented the wall behind it.

"Prince.." she pants, as if she had just ran a marathon. "Awake..now-" She practically bolts back out the door.

All the other girls look around at each other. There faces looking so confused. I shake my head at them all.

"She said that the Prince is awake now." I roll my eyes.

They all start screaming, while scrambling outside following behind the girl, as if they were a stampede.

"Such a good example" I say rolling my eyes at the girls tactic.

I start walking behind them all, taking my sweet time. The grounds of the estate are quite beautiful. I can see everything now, unlike earlier where all of the girls were littered around. I continue to walk over to a small bench by a small lake.

"I may as well take my time, as there will be over a hundred girls trying to get just a few minutes with him. "

I laugh at how desperate these girls truly were.

Michael POV:

I awoke to the steady beeping synchronized with my heart beat. I lay there, knowing that this will be the only peace i will get for days, months even.

After a while I decide to open my eyes. As I suspected I am laying in my hospital suite. I sit up, looking around the room. My eyes stop on a lady who was sitting in a chair in the corner. Her eyes are red and puffy, signifying she was crying.

"Hello?" I question her. My voice raspy from not being used.

"Your-you..."She stumbles over her words. Her eyes suddenly widen. "I need to tell them." I manage to hear her say before she sprints out the door.

I shake my head slightly.

They are all so desperate.

I chuckle to myself. I press the button beside my bed. Indicating that I need a nurse. Within a few seconds nurses and doctors are rushing in. Checking me over, making sure I am ok.

I wave them off.

"Prince Michael," Adam says walking in. He stops a few feet away from my bed, bowing slightly. "May I have a word?"

I nod my head, and ask everyone else to leave.

"Yes?" I look up at my scribe.

I raise my brow, noticing how tense he seemed

"Do you want the good news or the bad news first?" He looks at me, sadness filling his eyes.

"What's the bad news?" I ask. I am starting to stress and I try to maintain a steady heartbeat.

"Well... you see... " He scratches the back of his neck. "You have a massive fan club now." He exclaims. His hand are flails around.

I chuckle at his childishness, shaking my head slightly.

"What is it actually?"

Adam stood up straighter,

"Well, you were unconscious for two days, and Lady Jane got injured trying to protect you." He told me, his face blank.

"And the good news?" I ask, now standing, stretching out my limbs.

"The King is allowing you to be crowned before you are married."

My eyes snapped up to his.

My father would never do such a thing!

"What changed his mind?" I continue to maintain eye contact.

Adam just shrugs his shoulders.

"I am only a simple scribe," He bows slightly, trying to hide a smirk that I know is covering his face.

"Of course," sighing I sit back down on the bed.

A nurse rushes into the room.

"Prince Michael, there is a..." she hesitated for a moment "-lot of girls wanting to see you. "

I sigh, shaking my head.

"Of course they want to see him," I hear Adam mumble under his breath.

I chuckle at his remark. His cheeks are now tinted a shade of red, this made me laugh more.

"Let a few in at a time then." I lay back on the bed, mentally preparing myself for the horde of girls.

The nurse nods her head, turning and leaving me and Adam.

"Well, I wish you good luck." Adam says, his smirk evident on his face.

I wave him off, dismissing him.

I really need all the luck I can get.
