Adams POV

The prince fell to the ground.

"Michael!"

I ran towards him.

"Micheal!"

I reach him, but he is slowly losing conscious.

"Get the doctor here now." I lift Michaels head up, enough to get steady air flow.

I check for any wounds.

Nothing

The prince is becoming paler every minute.

Poison

"He's been poisoned," I yell out. "Poisoned."

I look back at Michael. My best friend. Even if he won't admit it. He knows I will be there for him.

But you weren't.

"I need a doctor here." I take in a shaky breath. "Now!"

A doctor runs over to me, medical staff running behind him.

A scream interrupts my train of thoughts. I look up at the culprit. Lady Jane is standing at the door frame. Tears welling in her eyes.

"Can someone escort her out."

"Sure." Charlotte scurries over to the poor girl.

She ushers her out into the courtyard.

"Adam you need to move. You are in the way." The doctor puts a hand on my shoulder.

I nod my head.

It's the best thing I can do for him.

Standing up I walk a few paces away. Giving enough room for the medics to access him. I start walking back and forth. The whole situation is starting to get to me.

An ear piercing scream echoes through the kitchen.

I hear another scream. This one I identify as Charlotte's. I run towards the courtyard.

"Guards, this could be the person who poisoned the prince." I call out to some guards who are on post.

We continue to the courtyard. Before us is a horrible scene.

Lady Jane has a knife lodged into her thigh, Charlotte looks pale, tears rolling down her cheeks. And a lady is lying on the ground a knife in her chest. Her hand appears to be holding it in place. I can not make out who it is, as I am too far away.

Lady Jane suddenly falls to the ground. Charlotte runs towards her. Screaming at her, screaming at us to help.

"She can die! Save her!" She continues screaming at us now kneeling next to the unconscious Lady.

One of the guards pulls her back, not allowing her to go any closer.

The guard looks at me, I nod my head back towards the kitchen. He understood and starts dragging a screaming and crying Charlotte with him.

"NO! SAVE HER," Charlotte yells "Save her not me..." she yells back, this time instead of an order, it sounds more like a plea.

I run towards Lady Jane, she is clearly paler. I pick her up carefully trying to not move the knife, actually a dagger, that is lodged in her leg.

"Can you dispose of the body." I tell another guard as I walk back to the kitchen, that hopefully still has medics.

Luckily I was right. Two medics run forward, ordering me to lay her on the ground. I step back letting the medics take care of her. I turn, looking for Charlotte. I see her standing a meter or two away. Tears streaming down her face.

Great, just great.

Rushing over to her I embrace her in a hug.

"Shhh..." I run my hand through her hair, trying to soothe her. "They will be alright. They are being looked after as we speak."

Charlotte breaks out into to sobs again.

Good job, idiot. I sigh.

"You've had a long day. Why don't you go home and get some rest?" I pull her back from my chest.

Her face is red and her eyes puffy. I wipe away a tear that was slowly trickling down her cheek.

She doesn't answer me.

"Okay, Charlotte? Go home and get some rest." I hold on to her shoulders, looking directly into her brown eyes.

She nods her head weakly. I sigh in contempt. I pull her back to my chest, embracing her in s hug

"Please don't scare me like that again. Please..." I feel a cold tear roll down my cheek.

I hold Charlotte tighter.

I don't want her seeing me like this.

After a few minutes, I let go, stepping back from her.

"Go get some rest," I tell her.

She smiles weakly, nodding her head. I wave goodbye as she walks off.

I truly hope she gets some rest. She has had a stressful day.
