Jane P.O.V

Indeed they will. But it will be... slightly different.

I chuckle at the thought. Adam raises his brow at me. I shake my head slightly, trying to hide my smirk.

"You see life already has. And if life is a continuous cycle, then it will return. Otr doesn't matter how much you try to stop it, you will only stall it." I pause accessing his face for a reaction, but there was none. "And if you do achieve your goal of keeping this order, majority of the people would be gone. And then what society would we have?"

I look back at him. He was walking slower now.

His face creased as if he was thinking.

"Yes, that is true. But why don't you have hope? For our society?" He stops turning to stand in front of me.

"I do have hope. But I still worry." I say. I force a look of sadness onto my face.

He looks at me. Searching for any lies. But I am to good at lying now. Years of being in the resistance, you learn to lie. He nods before continuing to walk on through the gardens.

We walk through the garden for a bit longer. Engaging in light conversation. I have to be careful. I almost foiled my own plan. Again. The sun slowly hides itself behind the towers of the castle. Adam looks down at his watch.

"We should probably head back, the first course begins in less then 10 minutes."

He guides me back to the dining hall.

"Thank you, I needed some fresh air." I look up to him. I extend my hand. "My name is Jane. Jane McCall."

I walk back inside. I see a girl approach me as she gets closer I realise who she is.

"Charlotte?" I whisper yell, not wanting to be heard.

She chuckles, "The one and only."

I can't help but grin. She is still the same goofy girl,

"How is the mission going?" She interlinks our arms, whispering so no one could eavesdrop.

"I don't know. What if I don't make it through the trails." I look into my friends eyes. There is sadness weaved through my voice, even I could hear that.

"Oh Jane.." She says embracing me in a hug. "You will succeed, I got told that the prince has taken a liking to you. I was even sent to get information about you. " She laughs, letting me go.

"Really?" I am shell shocked. I never expected my blunt, stubborn (yet charming, if you ask me) personality would actually attract him.

"Yep. Keep doing what you've been doing. It's working," She walks off skipping.

Well that's a cliffhanger. I sigh, walking back to the table.

People keep on looking at me. Which is good? I think. Their beady eyes follow my every move.

Keep to the plan.

I take a deep breath. I need to stay calm. I walk back to the table, there is still no one there.

Thank God..

But luck wasn't on my side.

"Attention ladies." Prince Michael is standing on a small stage.

The hall became eerily quiet. All eyes landed on him. Girls eyes filled with lust, adoration, but none was filled with disgust. Appalled by this behaviour. They behave like a dog eagerly doing tricks just to receive a piece of food that is merely a crumb.

They are all domesticated.

The Prince continues his little speech. I zone out, not bothered to listen to his nonsense.

Michaels POV

"Good evening. I officially welcome you all here. It is an honour to know how many people believe i am a suitable suitor." I pause, chuckling a bit at my own remark."Dinner will soon be commencing, could everyone please find their allocated seats." I wait until the ladies start taking their seats, before I head to my table.

The Lady Jane is sitting at the table already. She looks consumed in all of her thoughts.

"Lady Jane." Now standing next to her, she doesn't look up. "Lady Jane?"

Her eyes snap up to mine. The beautiful emerald colour delving deep into my own hazel eyes. Her cheeks flush pink.

"Oh.. I am so sorry Prince Michael. I didn't realize you were there" She turns to face me in her seat.

"No, no. It is fine. It is quite loud in her with all the chatter." I scratch my head, searching for any other topic to talk about.

"Do you mind if I take a seat here." I gesture towards the chair.

She simply nods, a small smile now visible.

"Umm...well..so.." I stutter.

"How do you handle all this?" She ask out of the blue. She probably thinks I am a complete mess.

"Handle what exactly?"

"Royal life. How can you put up with all these gold digging girls, the other kingdoms trying to take advantage of you and your kingdom. How do you handle all of it?" She looks down, suddenly finding interest in her hands on her lap. "Don't worry. It was a stupid question" she mumbles the last part.

I lift her chin, her eyes instantly connecting to mine. I look into her eyes. Trying to find a cause to this sudden curiosity.

I sigh, letting my hand to my side. "It's not a stupid question. It's just hard to answer." I scratch the back of my neck. I seem to be doing that often. "Well you can't really handle any of these," I gesture around the room. "You just put up with it, I guess. You have to learn to live with it. There isn't really a book on how to be a royal. " I laugh out nervously.

Wow I am absolutely hopeless.

I hear her giggle, this warms my heart.

What am I doing? I can't be falling for anyone, what if she is lying? What if she wants power, fame, riches? But not my heart.

This thought broke me. No one would want me, for me. Its is the only truth in royalty. I sigh. Jane honestly noticing my change in attitude, stops laughing.
"Sorry, your majesty." She bows her head down, taking an interest in her hands again.

What is wrong with me?
