Terrance is a college freshman who pretty much kept to himself. He did everything either alone or with the one friend he has made at school. He wasn't very social and didn't get out much; that is until one day he meets Connor, an adventurous college...
I sat next to Will's bed holding his hand. I decided to spend the day with him before having to deal with Connor later. I just want a joyful and peaceful start to my day and I knew that this would do it.
For a minute, it was just him and I. Once the doctors had brung him his food and medication and made sure that everything was okay, they left us two alone.
I was the only person that had come visit so far and I could tell that I had put the biggest smile on his face and he had honestly done the same for me. He was high off of the medication they had given him which made our conversation a lot more funny and enjoyable. With everything going on lately, I needed this.
I always forgot about the butterflies that Will gave me whenever we were together until I was in his presence again.
I felt kind of bad that I actually allowed Will to ease back into my life, especially now with Connor in the picture. I guess you could say that I'm kind of a hypocrite and overreacted with the Connor situation which is the reason I suggested that we talk.
I'd share my secret, as long as he shared his, and we would either choose to move past it or end things before they got any further. I knew that that meant eventually, I'd have to leave Will behind.
"...and I was like BOOP BOOP BOOP" he said, barely being able to speak behind all of the laughing. He was telling me a story about a fight he got into in middle school.
He couldn't stop laughing, I'm assuming due to the medication and I couldn't stop laughing because seeing him like this was very funny.
"Wait, so what happened next?" I asked as I finished up my laughing, wiping a tear that had fell from my face.
"And then.. and then, they tried to tell me they was gonna call my mom and I said 'I don't care. I'll call her myself.' I.. I don't know why. I was so bad." He was still laughing hysterically, but he seemed to be getting drowsier as time passed.
"Aye kiddo, can I ask you a question?" he asked with a smile still plastered on his face and a slightly distorted voice.
"Go ahead" I said, smiling back.
"Do you know someone named Co-" We were interrupted by the room door opening. I expected it to be one of the doctors so I didn't pay it much mind until I saw who it was.
I let out a loud sigh as I saw Adeline walking over the where we were. Her face was blank and I couldn't read what she was feeling. She looked at me briefly and rolled her eyes and I did the same.
Adeline was Will's sister. She never really liked me because she thinks that I secretly have a crush on her brother and am gonna turn him gay. Little does she know.

When she got over to the bed, she placed a kiss on his cheek. "Hey baby, how you doing?" She spoke with more emotion than she had shown in her face and her voice sounded very sincere.
I let go of Will's hand and got up so that his sister could be closer to him. I also didn't really care to be around her so I was going to separate myself from them until she decided that she had something better to do and left.
As I approached the door, I saw a shadow stop in front of the door. I paused for a second, out of the way of the door so that whoever was coming in could get in, and I wouldn't get hit in the process.
My jaw may as well have fallen off with the way that it dropped. His facial expression was the same.
I pushed him back and out into the hallway, hoping that neither of them had saw him. I didn't want to get caught up between these two, especially now that I planned on telling him myself.
"What are you doing here?!" I whisper yelled.
"What are youuu doing here?" he asked, crossing his arms and easing an eyebrow. His posture had straightened and he stretched out the 'you' so I knew this couldn't be good.
"I asked first" I said trying to flip the question back onto him.
He let out a sigh of defeat. "That's actually part of what I needed to talk to you about. Now is not a good time to explain. And you?"
"Well, I do go to school with him. We're.. friends. He stays down the hall from me." I mentally slapped myself after the last sentence because I felt that I was releasing too much information and sounding less convincing with each word.
He looked as if he had figured something out in his head and I was praying that it wasn't what I was thinking.
The defeated look on his face turned into a confused one and then one of realization. "Ohhh, is that why you ran into your room when you saw him coming out of his the other day?" he asked and he knew that I knew where this was going.

Before I even got the chance to speak and fake defend myself he spoke again. "That's not what friends do, is it?" I could tell that he was angry, but he didn't show it. If I didn't know any better, I'd think he was actually confused.
"Well.. I-" I was usually good at thinking of lies on the spot, but it seemed as if Connor had halted that ability as he stood in front of me.
"Oh, so it is true."
I placed my head in my hands because at this moment, I knew I had fucked up. "I was going to talk to you about it, I swear. It's just that.." I didn't remove my head from my hands as I spoke so that he couldn't see the tears that were forming in my eyes.
"What else is there to say? You were so quick to jump down my throat about me keeping secrets which by the way was only because I cared for you and your safety so much, but here you are with some of your own.
"You didn't make it any less obvious when you pushed me out of the room and into the hallway. I guess what I had to tell you doesn't really matter anymore. And as for what you have to say, you save it."
I heard a piece of paper ruffling and I looked up to see him reaching into his back pocket and pulling out a folded up piece of loose leaf paper.
"This was for you. It's an apology in the form of a poem. I was going to give it to you later when we spoke, but I guess I can do it now." He shrugged and flung the paper in my direction.
I reached my arms out and caught it as he walked away.
"Oh, and can you tell your boyfriend I stopped by" he said, disappearing into the elevator.
