Connor POV
Everything was moving and happening a lot faster than I'd expected it to. Had I not spent those days in bed dwelling, I could have been handled what needed to be handled and none of this happened.
As I ran back to my house, the voice continued to play in my head. Come find us. We're closer than you think.
I figured that running, I'd get to my house faster than a lyft could come and get me there. I needed to get to my car as soon as I could because who knew how much time I had.
I slowed my pace as I arrived closer to my house. I grabbed my head in anger and let out a loud shout after what I had seen.
My car windows had been broken out, and aside from that, the entire car was damn near totaled. That was the only means of transportation by which I could get to where I needed to go.
I scanned around the usually quiet street for a car to break into. I had picked up a few tips and tricks on grand theft auto, though it wasn't usually my go to. This, however, was an emergency.
I jogged over to the closest car I could find, a grey Honda that looked a few years old, but who was I to complain. I scanned my surroundings, making sure no one was around or paying attention before elbowing the window, glass shattering onto the street and into the car seat.
I quickly reached through the broken window, opened the door, and sat in the driver's seat after brushing the glass out of the chair. I reached below the steering wheel so that I could hit wire the car and once it was up and running, I wasted no time pulling off.
I knew exactly where they were headed, the heart of everything I'd ever worked for in my life. My warehouse was usually empty on Sundays and Mondays which would make today a perfect day to head there.
I drove there as fast as I could, hoping to beat them, using every shortcut possible to make sure that I had a good chance at it.
The car ride was silent, the only sound being the engine roaring from the speed I was moving at and the sound of my thoughts in my head.
My mind was all over the place, but one thing in particular kept creeping it's way back into my mind, one person; Terrance. I don't know why, but it was so hard for me to stay mad at him and times like this, I hated that.
I honestly didn't know what to feel at this point. I didn't know if I was angry or if I was upset or if I felt betrayed or what.
As I neared the warehouse, I put all of those feelings behind me. I glanced over at the time on the car and it was earlier than I expected. Knowing Roscoe and his crew, he probably had a few stops to make before he got here anyways.
One thing about Roscoe was that he always underestimated his enemies. He probably didn't expect me to figure out that they'd be headed to the most obvious place, but where else would they go and why else would he tell me to come find him and that they were closer than I thought.
I pulled the car over onto the highway before jumping out and running down to the warehouse. I didn't bring the car because I didn't want it to appear that anyone was here.
As I got closer to the warehouse, I sighed at its almost brand new appearance knowing that it would probably soon be ruined again.
Fortunately, I had made SB a spare set of keys as of recently and so yesterday, him and a few others came down here and gotten everything mostly cleaned and fixed. There were still a few broken windows, but those were the ones not in reach.
