Connor POV
My face scrunched up at the note before me. I balled it up and tossed it to the floor before letting out a loud snarl and making my way over to WT who was laid out on the ground.
He appeared to be lifeless. From what I saw, a bullet had penetrated his chest and looked like it was close to his heart.
He was one of my best workers and one of the only ones I communicated with directly. I didn't want to lose him not just as a worker, but as a friend as well.
I placed my thumb on his wrist to check and see if he still had a pulse. He did. I took off my jacket and lifted him up slightly so that I could wrap it around his body and attempt to compress the wound to stop any further bleeding.
I wonder how long he had been like this since I got the call almost an hour ago and it seemed that no one here knew what they were doing.
I was growing frustrated by the second just thinking of everything that had happened and what would have been different had I arrived earlier. I would have been here earlier if it wasn't for Terrance, but it wasn't his fault.
Terrance.
I felt a tear slip from my eye and I wiped it real quick and shook my head in attempt to get him out of my mind at the moment.
"CLEAN THIS SHIT UP!" I yelled to everyone out of frustration. I probably shouldn't be taking my frustrations out on everyone here, but I didn't know what else to do.
"Yo, SB, come help me take him to the car. We gotta get him to the hospital now!"
SB came over and we lifted WT's heavy body and carried him to the car though we struggled a little bit. He was taller than both of us, and having played football, he was definitely on the heavier side.
We laid him in the back seat and though time may not have been on our side, I decided on taking him to the hospital closer to our side of town.
I didn't call the ambulance because I couldn't risk them pulling up to the warehouse. I didn't take him to the nearest hospital because I couldn't risk the events being traced back to the warehouse.
As I drove, I thought about a lot of shit. WT was in my back seat bleeding out. My warehouse had been ambushed and I knew exactly who had done it. As a result of the ambush, I had lost thousands of dollars due to my now damaged inventory and most importantly, I was certain I had ruined things with Terrance.
Every time I thought about what had happened, I grew angrier and angrier. The tears falling were no longer the result of sadness, but the result of anger.
"Boss, slow down!" I looked over and saw a panicked SB in his seat and back at the dashboard to see I was doing 120.
I didn't say anything. I just gradually slowed down until I was doing about 90. I still wanted to drive fast enough to get WT to the hospital as quick as I could.
I glanced in my rear view occasionally to see his still body just laying there, lifeless almost. There was only slight movement from his chest expanding and contracting which was a good sign. I just couldn't believe all of this was happening in one day.
"You good? You're not acting like yourself. We've dealt with this situation several times before. What's going on with you?" I heard SB ask, placing his hand on my shoulder.
I gently removed it. "I'm good, just got a lot on my mind this time around."
