and then the girl confessed
shaking, near tears, she told the truth that was too heavy for her hands
she still bleeds
the whispers of what happened continue to haunt her
and nobody changes anything
but what is there to change?
he is gone
never touching her again
yet still in reach
close enough to make her look down in shame
and continue to ache
i pity her struggle
with every word she feels, i let her collapse into me
caving in like ruins of a forgotten and desecrated temple
and we weep.
