Vic's POV
I floated in and out of sleep. I couldn't feel anything but the bliss of relaxation. I didn't want to open my eyes. I didn't want this feeling to leave me. It was so quiet and I felt at ease.
There was the soft pressing of something against my neck followed by the same pressing under my jaw. It was drawing me further out of my dream state and wherever it touched, left a warm, tingly sensation.
There was another press against my lips but this one was softer than the others and left me wanting more. I opened my eyes and found the source of the all the love pressing. Valerie stared back up at me with those green eyes that I found to be the most beautiful gems I would ever come across. They sparkled, lit up, and danced with something that I always felt from her - love.
The sleep left my body and the feeling of being awake came to me. She had her feet with mine and her body was about half a foot away but her hands were under my shirt, bunching it up and playing with it.
"Good morning." She smiled a warm and cute smile before I pulled her into me. Her hands flattened out against my chest and her smile grew into a cheesy grin once I kissed her nose.
Suddenly, she climbed over me and jumped out of our combined bed (which doctors complained about, but nurses told them to leave us alone). I sat up and swung my legs over the edge of the bed to watch her every move as she danced and twirled around the room merrily. She twirled over to me and crashed into my arms, with her face right in mine.
"Guess what today is." I looked at the wide grin and remembered exactly what day it was.
"The fair opens up today!"
"Oh my gosh, does it really!?"
"Yeah! But I'm guessing that's not what you were talking about." I felt my cheeks turn a shade darker as Valerie laughed at me and shook her head.
"Don't get me wrong, that's exciting and all but I was referring to being released from the hospital." My mouth formed a little 'o' and she shook her head at me even more.
"Lay down." I did as I was told and laid back on the bed with my head propped up on pillows. Soon after, Valerie climbed onto me and sat on my stomach the way we always did. My hands found hers and our fingers intertwined. She pulled up on my arms until I was sitting up and our arms were above our heads.
Valerie shut her eyes and stretched, forcing me to stretch a little with her and when she let her arms back down, I leaned back again as she opened her eyes, letting our hands drop to the side.
"I've missed this. We haven't done these little things in a while." My thumbs rubbed gently at the soft skin on the back of her hands.
"Same. What do you wanna do when we leave here?" She chuckled and shrugged her shoulders.
"I don't know but everyone at home probably has something planned for us."
Home.
It was the first time she ever called the house that. A small smile spread across my lips when I heard that and she brushed her lips on mine.
"What're you so happy about?" I looked up at her and reached up to play with her hair, something I knew she loved.
"You called the house 'home.' That just really makes me happy." She opened her mouth to reply but was cut off by the opening of our room door.
"Ah, Mr. and Mrs. Fuentes!" A deep red took over Valerie's cheeks as she climbed off me and sat beside me. The doctor continued to barge in and explained what we already knew.
