"Hey Kid" Ben stumbled back from the sudden apparition of the man he tried so hard to destroy. He couldn't speak. He knew the Force was mysterious, even to him, but he never expected to find himself staring face to face with his uncle. Not after Crait."Uncle Luke?" he still stared, his eyebrows scrunched together. He was still trying to process the fact that he was staring at the man who tried to kill him. "What do you want?" Ben's voice rushed out in a growl and Luke smirked.
"Pump the hate brakes, you and I both know it was both of us who made a mistake."
"Alright but what do you want now?"
"I told you I'd always be with you, didn't believe me, did you?"
"I..." He couldn't get the words out. It was not a common occurrence to find oneself speaking to a force ghost; especially not someone who had walked such a dark path for a good portion of his life. Before he could stop himself Ben found his hand stretched out in front of him, his fingers passing through the robes his uncle always wore.
"Sorry kiddo, not here this time either. I am a little more blue though huh." Ben frowned slightly.
"Well your humor hasn't improved much, but I suppose that died a while ago."
"Yea about the same time your wardrobe. Black, really Ben, how original." Luke threw him a smirk. He was still his sarcastic self clearly death didn't change that.
"Says the man who wore the same robe for my entire childhood." Ben shook his head. He had always wondered why his Uncle never wore anything different, same gray robes, same off-white tunic.
"Alright I didn't cross the astral plane to discuss who dresses better. Even though clearly it's me."
Ben shook his head, his eyes rolling. "Then why, are you here to tell me that you told me so?"
"Nope, actually, I came to tell you that I know you think walking away from Rey is the right thing to do but it isn't." Ben opened his mouth to argue but he closed it again. Luke may have made some bad decisions when it came to Ben, but he seemed to care about Rey. "The two of you need to work together. That is the only way to bring balance and destroy Mathis and Morganna."
"I don't understand, the vision......" Ben was sure the mirror had shown him future, one that he would do anything to prevent.
"Ben this cave doesn't show you your future, or even your past. It is just your fear. It is the part of yourself that could consume you if you let it. It's it only what you bring with you when you enter here. My own father had visions of my mother dying. He fought so hard to prevent it and in the end his of fear of losing her is what killed her. He was seduced by the dark side, by the power he thought he could obtain in order to save her. His fear for my mother destroyed him. Of course it didn't help that he had a Sith Lord feeding him lies."
"Wait...what Lord Vader was a Sith." Ben's eyebrow brow arched as he stared and Luke
"Lord Vader yes. Anakin Skywalker, my father, no. He was a Jedi and like you his mind was poisoned and seduced by the power of the dark side and one who would have complete control over him. That is until he ultimately destroyed his master. Sounds familiar huh." Ben didn't answer he knew the story of Darth Vader, of how his only son brought him back. Now wasn't the time to discuss the past. Ben was still trying to figure out how to help Rey without hurting her.
"There's that look again, leaving her won't solve anything." Luke smirked
"I have to leave her, I have to let her go. I care for her and if that is going to get her killed why wouldn't I walk away?"
