The training room was completely empty at this hour. It was nearing midnight on the ships night cycle. She couldn't sleep and once again found herself in the training room, firing shot after shot into several different targets. It wasn't hard to hit the mark, shooting had become a mindless task, but it was enough to keep her mind from replaying the troopers falling to the ground, their helmets blood stained and pierced by her shots.
Mia had no intention of becoming a First Order Captain. But she had to survive and remaining a lowly grunt gave her no access to Ben, and he was the mission.

"Amelia, we need you to do this! Please, he's like your brother." Her mother nearly begged. Leia paced back and forth behind her. Her eyes red from crying.
Not two hours ago did they learn of the massacre at the Jedi Academy. The deaths of more than a dozen younglings along with almost all of the adults. Luke had survived, but his head count of the dead showed seven people missing.
"I don't understand what you need me to do mom, how am I supposed to save Ben?" Mia asked. She would do anything for her mother but she and Ben had drifted apart. They weren't the best friends they had once been. It wouldn't be as simple as finding him and dragging him home, they had no idea where he was or who he was with. "Where is he?"
"Snoke." Leia growled suddenly. "That monster has my son." She finally stopped pacing and came to stand next to Amalyn who reached for her hand. Mia didn't miss the sarrow in her mother's eyes as she looked at Leia.
"Snoke? The Supreme Leader of the First order? How the hell am I supposed to save Ben from him. I am not a force user. Isn't Snoke a Sith lord?"
"According to Luke he only practices the dark powers of the Force, he is no sith. We will send you in as a spy. A trooper if needed. You just have to get close enough to him to convince him to come home. Ben will listen to you. Mia you can do this you've been training for this. Ben is all I have left." Leia's voice cracked as more tears slipped down her face. "Han is gone, I don't know where he is. I can't lose my son too." Leia pleaded, and Mia felt herself crumble.
"Leia that won't happen." Amalyn whispered. Leia's eyes flashed to Mia then Amalyn before she pulled her hand from Amalyns grasp.
"I will find him. I'll get into the First Order somehow, and I will bring him home." Mia rose from her seat and quickly hugged them both. As she left the room she saw Leia turn to her mother tears in her eyes. Amalyn pulled her into her arms as Mia left.As the memory faded, Mia heard the door to the training room open. She turned to see Val walking in. Her wounds were nearly healed, and she was too stubborn to not be walking around. Mia sighed. She would have to chain the woman to the bed if she really wanted her to rest.
"There you are love, what's wrong?" Val came to stand behind Mia. Her arms wrapping around the blonde's waist.
Mia set her rifle down and turned to face Val. "Baby, you know you're not supposed to be walking around this much. I don't want you to get worse."
"I'm fine Mia, besides I don't sleep well without you. I can hear Syrus snoring through the kriffing wall. What's wrong, tell me. Is it what we talked about earlier?" Val smiled up and her and Mia leaned down to kiss her gently.
"No it's just...it's nothing, I couldn't sleep." she said as she pulled away. Val brought her hand to Mia's cheek.
"Is it the nightmares again?"
"Yes. I will never get used to killing anyone. Those men were my soldiers, I trained with them, fought side by side with them. I just never imagined I'd have to kill men I knew for so long. Being a part of the First Order really showed me so much. I mean for so long I thought you all were the enemy but that isn't the case. These soldiers, the men and women here believe they are doing the right thing. It's just like the resistance. We aren't innocent. How many lives have the resistance members destroyed. It was easy to see the First Order as bad but now I'm just not sure. Then on top of all of that I almost lost you. I don't know what I would have done." Mia cold feel the tears springing to her eyes. She knew she had to be strong but it was times like this when she really just want to take Val and run.
