Brook poked Steve in the chest with the eraser part of her pencil. Steve stood there. Brook made a small upset face. "You gotta die, Steven."

Ian smiled at her childishness. The gang was just watching her with smiles and they waited for Steve to die.

"Do I have to?" Steve whined.

"Steve, die!" Soda rushed his friend.

Steve turned to Sodapop. "Ouch!"

"That's not what I mean!"

"Fine!" Steve gave in. Brook clapped her hands together in pride as she watched Steve slowly, and dramatically, die. "Oh! Cruel world!"

"Just fall, Steve." Johnny told Steve. Steve finally fell and Brook looked at Steve.

"Well don't die."

"What the hell!" Steve laughed. The entire gang laughed as Steve struggled to get up.

"I win." Brook smiled. Steve stuck his tongue at her. "I'll chop that tongue off if it comes out of that mouth again."

"Bu-" Steve tried to get across but Brook covered his mouth. Steve did the best Randle thing to do.

Lick her hand.

"Ew! Steven!" Brook gagged and wiped her hand on Steve's DX shirt.

"So, doll?" Dallas sat next to Brook.

"Don't call her that." Ian interrupted.

"Why?" Dallas smirked.

"Because." Ian only said.

"Because..." Dallas pushed for more.

"Because...Darry! My great friend Darrel!" Ian got Darry's attention. "Doesn't want you calling his kid sister doll."

"Right." Darry went along with it.

"Well. It's her nickname so she gets to chose. Brook, do you mind me calling you doll?"

"Hm?" Brook hummed in response. "I-I don't mind." She looked at Ian. Ian soon walked out of the house. "Damnit." Brook mumbled to herself, knowing she fucked up again.

She got up and followed Ian. "Ian." Brook tried to get him to stop and listen. "Ian!" She repeated.

She stopped after she realized he wasn't gonna turn around. She walked back in the house and stormed off to her room.

Ian walked to the park and sat down near the fountain. He ran his hands through his short hair and sighed.

He hated when Dal would always hit on her. You could say he was jealous, but not stupid jealous.

He's liked Brook for a while. The day he met her made him smile no matter what his current state was.

"Ponyboy! Why'd you turn it off?" Ian heard a girl ask as he was walking out of the diner with Dallas Winston and Tim Shepard.

"Because, Elvis sucks, Brook."

"He does not!"

"You're acting like you're 13."

"You act like you're 6."

Ian came into view with a girl around his age. She had long red-ish hair and sharp blue eyes.

"Nice broad, huh?" Dallas asked Ian, who could only nod.

"Brook Curtis. She's got her mother's looks."

"Heard she's dating that Derek Aaron kid." Tim informed him.

"That player?" Ian asked, Tim nodded. "She's screwed."

"At least I'm not some 16 year old who likes Elvis!" Ponyboy Curtis teased.

"You are just upset because I turned off your Whitney Houston music!"

"Now, babe. Why would you do that?" Dallas interrupted their conversation.

Brook smiled and turned her body to Dallas. "Texas."

"Brook, this is Ian." Dallas introduced Ian to her. Brook shook his hand. Now that he was up closer he could see the slight grey in her eyes.

"Nice to meet you." She kept her smile on. "Timmy." Her smiled turned into a smirk.

"Doll." Tim smirked back and she kept quiet, her face turning red. "She loves being called doll, only if you know her though. She'll murder a stranger."

Ian smiled a little, going back to that day.

Brook laid on her bed, saying 'I'm sorry' a million times. She always said that, even if she didn't need to. It was her other big fear, that if she didn't say sorry people they will hurt her. Brook was a very paranoid person, if you couldn't tell.

She sat up and looked at her scars. She traced over them and went to her other arm, which had her tattoos.

She went back to her scars and traced over them once again and soon her bedroom door opened.

Ian stood there, looking emotionless. He slowly shut her door and came over to her.

"Don't be mad at me..." She whispered.

"Why would I be mad?" Ian asked.

"Because. I shouldn't do this. I'm stupid." She choked back tears.

"Then I'm stupid." He pulled her in and hugged her tight. She hugged him back and they stayed like that for a while they both fell asleep.
