Brook sat in the diner with the gang, honestly having fun. She was in between Ashlyn and Ian. She didn't order anything. "Why aren't you eating?" Ashlyn asked.

Brook forced a smile. "I'm on a diet." A diet where I eat nothing...she thought to herself.

"Oh." Ashlyn nodded as she understood. Ponyboy gave Brook a glance, which she caught and kicked him.

The waitress came over to check on them and then left. "She's really pretty." Ashlyn smiled.

"Fit too." Steve winked at Sodapop.

Brook put her hands in her lap and closed them tight, her nails digging into her skin. "You ok?" Ian asked. She nodded. Pony gave her another look, earning another kick.

"Why do you wear make-up?" Pony decided to make a plan to catch her.

"I like it." She lied.

"Why do you wear baggy clothes?"

"Makes me feel small." Lie.

"Why do you look upset when you read a magazine?"

"Bad news happens around town." Lie.

"Why are you on a diet and the second we force you to eat you have to go to the bathroom?"

She put her hands up on the table. She was scratching involuntarily so her sleeves were up.

"Because I have to brush my teeth."

Pony didn't notice her arms, no one did yet to be honest.

"Why do you wear make-up?" Pony asked again.

"Pony-" Darry knew all the answers, he didn't want his kid sister to be forced into anything.

"Already answered." Brook interrupted.

"Why?! Tell me the truth!" Pony raised his voice.

"Ponyboy Michael Curtis!" Ashlyn stood up after seeing Brook's arms.

He ignored. "Tell me the truth!"

"Because I hate how I look, ok?! I starve myself and cover up the face I was born with! Y'all say I look like Mom but she was gorgeous! I'm not in anyway like that beautiful fit woman!" Brook yelled back. The whole diner luckily ignored, cause fights happen all the time.

Everyone was silent. Brook scoffed and stood up on the table and walked out of the diner. She got into the alley and she slid down the wall in tears. "I hate myself..." She whispered to herself.

She cried there for a while until she felt arms around her. She knew who it was immediately.

She hid her head in Ashlyn's chest as she cried. "You're beautiful, honey." Ashlyn rubbed her back.

"I can't believe it, I've lived knowing I'm never gonna be beautiful for so long I don't believe you..." Brook hated herself for that.

"That's ok. Just know, to us you are gorgeous."

"He hates me now, doesn't he?" Brook asked as she calmed down.

"What?! No! Why would he?!" Ashlyn knew who she was talking about.

"Because. No guy wants a girl who's depressed and starves herself."

"He doesn't hate you." Ashlyn promised. "Did he hate you for that?" She pointed to her arms. Brook shook her head. "Well. Then he wouldn't get mad because you did this. I'll go get him and prove it." Before Brook could speak Ashlyn left to get Ian.

Half-way through Ashlyn started slightly crying, hating that Brook didn't see what she saw. She walked into the diner and Dallas looked at her with confusion.

She couldn't find Ian anywhere. She calmed down after Dallas hugged her and they sat there waiting for Ian to come back. They figured they should give Brook time.

Brook was curled up, hugging her knees to her chest. "Why am I not good enough?" She asked herself. "I can't even make them happy." She scoffed her herself.

"Wow. What a wonderful friend, Brooklyn. You're the best sister and friend! Not to mention best girlfriend!" She yelled at herself.

"Yeah...best girlfriend..." She sighed and remembered the day she was a fucking idiot!

"Can you at least tell me why?" Ian asked calmly.

"No." Brook snapped.

"Babe, I'm trying to help."

"I'm fine." She yelled behind her shoulder as she walked into her room.

"Is it my fault?" He asked.

"Yes!" She blurted. Her face suddenly changed from mad/upset to hating herself/fear. It wasn't his fault! She knew that! He's the reason she's not dead! "Ian, I didn-"

"I get it." Ian said, heartbroken. He backed up and walked out of her room then out of the house.

"Perfect girlfriend." Brook said sarcastically to herself. "So stupid!" She bashed her head against the brick wall.

"Stupid, stupid stupid." With every 'stupid' she hit her head again and again. And she repeated.

Ashlyn looked up when Ian came back into the diner. "Where is she?" He asked Ashlyn. She stood up and they walked to the alley.

Brook had her head now leaning against the wall as tears streamed dowm her face. Ian walked over and hugged her tight.

He slowly rocked her as she cried into his shirt. "It's okay..." He whispered to her as he rubbed her back.

Why am I so depressing......???????? I can't write my friends right lmao
