Ash

Hailey is a nice woman. Really, I admit that. I can see why Timothy fell in love with her. And with that thought, my chest started aching again.

"Ikaw Ash? You said you're a mother of a twin. Can I meet them? I bet they'd be handsome!!! Sa ganda ba naman ng ina nila eh hindi na ako mag tataka. And I also bet that their father is one hell of a hunk man."

Ngumiti na lamang ako sa kanya habang siya ay sumesenyas na tumahimik ako while putting her pointer finger on her lips.

"Sshhh ka lang Ash ha? Don't tell Timothy that I have said something nice to some other guys. Seloso kasi iyon eh."

Napayuko ako't palihim na lumunok. Trying to swallow the lump in my throat that's making it hard to talk normally without breaking my voice.

"O-oo naman. A-and about my twins, nag ta-travel sila ngayon kasama mga grandparents niya. Sa ibang bansa kasi sila lumaki kaya hindi sila nakasama ng mga grandparents niya. So I made them travel to any countries they want para naman maka bonding nila ang mga apo nila."

Tumango tango naman si Hailey sa sinabi ko.

"That's great Ash. So what about their father?"

Iniwas ko ang tingin ko sa kaniya. Ang mga kamay ko ay nag sisimula nang mamasa at manlamig. My mind suddenly went blank after hearing her question.

"Ash?"

Lumingon ako dito at nakita ko itong nag-aalalang nakatingin sa akin. Hindi ko alam kung anong sasabihin ko. Lalo na kung ang sagot sa tanong niya ay siya mismong mananakit sa kanya.

"Did he run away when he knew you were pregnant?"

Umiwas ulit ako ng tingin saka natawa ng pagak.

"No. Because it's the other way around."

I heard her gasp. I ready my self for her judgement, pero hindi iyon dumating. All I felt was a hand caressing my right hand.

"It must be tough to be in your situation Ash. I admire you for standing up on your own. And as for why you left the guy. I won't ask it anymore. Ok? I am so sorry for asking such questions Ash. I....I just....want to be your friend..."

Lumingon ako dito at nakita kong nakatanaw ito sa malayo.

"It's ok Hailey. At saka, aren't we not friends yet?"

Her face lit up the moment I said those words to her.

"Really?! We're friends now!? OMG Ash!!! Thank you! You don't know how happy I am to have a friend!!"

Kumunot ang akong noo. Doesn't she have any friends at all?

"Don't you have any circles of friends? I am sure marami since you are a super model."

She sighed, "Being a super model doesn't grant you some true friends you know. Lalo na ngayon at fiance ko ang isa sa pinakamayaman sa buong Asia."

I understand her. I also felt that way noong bata pa ako. I am a loner, not because they don't want to be my friend, it was me who push them away. Dahil halata naman sa mga kilos nila kung ano lang ang gusto nila. Kaya nga si Rona lang ang kaibigan ko eh. At noong high school ay ganoon pa rin, except noong mga oras na play girl pa ako. Because I don't push boys away from me that time.
