I could feel Kai's ire as we walked into the bookstore, which just happened to sell two of my favorite things: books and coffee. The caffeine didn't affect me the way it once did, but I still loved the way it tasted.

I stopped at the end of the line of coffee drinkers and took a breath that was laced with coffee beans and cream as Kai glared.

"I thought that we were just coming here so that I could replace that stupid shirt? We've been here for hours, and you've bought tons of clothes already." He said as he held up the bags he was carrying. I smiled up at him sweetly,

"I'm a girl. This is what we do, we shop." He slid his shades down his nose so that his eyes met mine,

"You're fucking with me, that's what you're doing. Can't we just get that stupid shirt and get out of here? I'm starting to get hungry." I rolled my eyes,

"I'm sure that any one of these women staring at you would be more than happy to accommodate." I sighed, "Go grab a bite and by the time you come back I'll be ready to go."

He eyes me skeptically. "What about your shirt?" I eyed the people in front of me in line and noticed that there was just one guy now. I then said as I walked closer to the counter,

"Oh, that was a special order. I can only get it through this online company." I could feel flames in his eyes as he stared at the back of my head, but I knew it was bad when I heard him growl my name. So I did the only thing I could think of, I hugged him as I said, "Have I told you how much fun I've had today? Thank you so much for bringing me. You're the best vampire brother a girl could ever ask for." I could feel his body begin to relax as he patted my head and whispered softly in my ear,

"I will get you back for this." I swallowed loudly as he chuckled "You're up" as he walked away. I gladly walked up to the girl behind the counter that was openly ogling Kai and ordered the largest, sweetest most caffeinated beverage they had as she asked me if Kai was my boyfriend. I shook my head as I made a face,

"Oh, god no." She looked confused so I added, "He's my brother." She then gave me the sweetest smile possible as she asked if I wanted anything else. As soon as my drink was ready I quickly grabbed it and fled before the coffee girl could try and become my new best friend to get into Kai's pants. Sadly, I didn't make it very far because I collided with a broad chest in a light blue tee shirt, which caused my cup to slip right through my fingers. Now I could have saved my coffee, but that would have involved using some vampire speed, which was a big no-no. So I had to sadly watch my coffee hit the floor with a splash.

"I'm really sorry about that. Let me buy you another one." I just nodded my head as I looked up from my puddle of coffee to his face. It was a nice face, one that normal girls would swoon over. But I was not a normal girl, and I knew that five seconds after all of this, I wouldn't remember him at all. Well, except for the fact that his pervy thoughts about how hot I was kept slamming into my head. Why did I have to hear this guy's thoughts but not attack thoughts?

I smiled at his offer of another coffee because I was going to need it to keep me on my toes with Kai's threats looming over me. I wasn't stupid enough to think that they were idle. Oh no, his threats were like promises, and he always kept his promises. Before I knew it the boy had returned with another cup of delicious smelling coffee. He carefully handed it to me, and once it was in my hands I brought the cup to my nose and inhaled deeply, savoring the smell. I knew that if I devoured it now it would look strange because it was still far too hot, and even though it wouldn't bother me, it would still be noticed. I heard his chuckle as he said,

"You really do like your coffee, huh?"

I nodded, "It's like happiness." He just smiled that smile that I am sure made every girl go weak in the knees as he continued,
