Welcome Home Baby James

The next morning, I woke up to the nurse and doctor coming into the room with a few things for me to take home. I thanked them for everything and packed my bags while James slept soundly in the car seat waiting for Hunter to come and pick us up. "You're going to love your home baby." Once I finished packing everything to go home. I sat back down on the bed and posted the picture of Hunter and James on my Instagram account captioning it.Like Father, Like son. Welcome to the world little one. Words can't describe how loved you already are."Knock knock." I look over to the door to see Hunter standing there with an Ice cap for me in hand. "How are we this morning?" he asked walking in and giving me a kiss. "It goes, happy to be going home this morning."I replied as I put my shoes on and a hoodie I had worn here. I picked up my overnight bag and checked the room one last time to make sure I had everything. "Alright, let's go!"I said as Hunter picked up the car seat with a sleeping James inside.

Once we got out to the car, I opened the door and put my bag in before getting in and helping Hunter adjust the car seat securely. "Alright we good?"Hunter asked. "All good."I replied. I closed the door and buckled my seatbelt. Hunter opened the driver's door to the car and got in. "All ready back there?"he asked looking through the rear view mirror. "All set and excited to go home."I said as he started the car and we made our way home.

We turned into the driveway and when I looked at the house, there stood my mom and Sam on the front porch with a giant sign saying Welcome Home James Alexander. Once the car came to a stop, we unbuckled our belts and got out of the car. "Welcome home!"My mom and brother said coming over to help me bring in a few things I had brought to the hospital. "You guys are too cute, you know that?"I said giving them each a hug. "Woah, no need to tell me that! I've got enough girls telling me I'm cute enough as it is!"Sam replies as I push him playfully laughing at his smartass reply. He walked over to the front door and I followed him in. "This sign is so cute!"I said slipping my shoes off and putting them underneath the bench at the front door. "Thanks Alex and I made it with a little help from mom's calligraphy."He replied. Hunter walked in with James in the baby seat in one hand a few of the baby gifts we received from our families and the Camerons. "Mom could you possibly take a couple of pictures for me after we get settled in?"I asked.

Later on, after my mom took the pictures and majority of our visitors were gone and James was fed, I handed him to Hunter before going upstairs to have a nice warm bubble bath. After my bath, I changed into some root sweats and one of Hunter's hoodies before putting my hair up into a messy bun and going back downstairs to the living room. "Feel better?"My mom asked as I sat down on the couch. "Refreshed"I replied. "What are you feeling like for dinner today?"Hunter asked while turning around rocking James gently back and forth in his arms. "How about take out?"I asked as I got up to grab one of the takeout menus from the kitchen counter. "Sure we can do that."He replies coming over and sitting next to me. "Where are we going to get take out from?"He asks. "How about Chinese food?"Sam suggested holding up the take out menu from our favourite Chinese food place with a huge smile on his face. "And who said you were staying for dinner Sammy?"I asked jokingly he looked at me with a pouting lip before I told him I was just kidding. "I mean we haven't eaten from there in a while."

"Alright, I'll order the food and then Sam and I will go pick it up. Sound good?"Hunter asked. I nodded in reply as did my mom. While the boys went to pick the food up, my mom stayed and set the dinner table. "Your father and Alex should be here for dinner soon."My mom said as we grabbed plates from the cupboard and set them down on the island. The doorbell rang and I went to answer it, when I opened the door, there stood my dad and brother with flowers and a huge tub of ice cream. "Welcome home sweetheart."My dad said engulfing me in a hug. "Thanks dad."I replied before hugging Alex who held the big tub of cookie dough ice cream. "Stop!!! How did you know?"I asked as Alex handed me the tub of ice cream. "A brother never forgets."He replied as I gave him a look. "No seriously how'd you know?" We walked into the kitchen and Alex put the ice cream in the freezer as my dad placed the flowers down on the island. "I told you, a brother never forgets. Plus, every time we go to get ice cream you always get the cookie dough flavour."He replied. James started crying as we made our way to sit down in the family room. I picked him up from his sleep basket and rocked him back and forth in my arms. "Shh it's okay baby, mommy's here."I said soothing him trying to get him back to sleep with no success.

"We're back!"Sam said walking through the kitchen with two bags of food in his hand. "Hey buddy."Dad said getting up to help Hunter and Sam put everything out on the island. "Okay food's ready!" Hunter said as everyone got up and went to grab some dinner. "My family's coming over to visit after dinner."Hunter said opening a pack of chopsticks. "Yeah, your mom texted me earlier."I replied. While we ate, talked and watched some sports on tv before cleaning up. "I'm going to go change James's diaper."I said picking James up from his crib and talking to him. I carefully walked up the stairs and opened James's bedroom door. "Here's your room baby. It's got a nice sports theme going right now but when you get older, we can change it if you want."I said looking down at my baby boy who was looking around. I placed him down on the change table and began to change his diaper while singing to him. Just then, a deep voice begins to sing with me as the voice gets louder and the person gets closer. As I turn around, I come face to face with Alex. "You know kid, I'm really proud of you. You're already handling this whole mom thing like a professional." He said standing next to me looking down at James who was staring up at the both of us. "Thanks big bro."I replied giving him a side hug. "Do you mind holding him while I clean off the change mat and wash my hands?"I asked handing James over to his uncle Alex. "Hi buddy, it's your uncle Alex" I finished cleaning off and turned to watch my big brother with my baby. "Hey Al...You're rocking the uncle thing you know that?"I asked when he looked up and smiled. "Thanks kid, now let's go hangout downstairs."He replied as we made our way back downstairs to the family room.

"There's my babies and my handsome little grandson."Mom said as entered the family room and joined our family. "Baily just texted me that they should be here soon."Hunter said as the doorbell rings. "I'll get it"Hunter said getting up from the couch and going to the door to let his family in. "Hey guys how are you?"Nita asked coming into the family room followed by Tyler and the girls. "There's my little guy."Nita said going over to Alex and James. "Did you want to hold him?"Alex asked Nita sat down and Alex handed James to Nita. After a few hours of spending some time with both families, Hunter's family went home and we were saying bye to mine. "You sure you don't want me to stay and help?"my mom asked. "Thanks for all your help today mom but I think we can handle it tonight."

I hugged both my parents and they both went got in the car and drove off. "I'll be back to come chill with you tomorrow alright little one."Sam said giving me a hug before saying bye to Hunter and James. "See ya tomorrow then."I said before saying bye to Alex next and watching as they drove off. "Alright let's put this boy to bed."Hunter said yawning and closing the front door locking it behind him.
