The next few villages, town and small camps has fairly easy jobs to do. Some of which there were informed of ahead of time and others they sort of just ran into...
They helped some townfolk, villagers and squatters and it really boosted morale.
It boosted some morale atleast. Blake didn't really enjoy being "benched" with Neptune. He was nowhere near her level and she didn't really appreciate having to be on snitch duty with him, she was actually a reliable fighter but Yang knew that.
Snitch duty was basically whistleblowing; getting information around towns to help the group locate a wrong-doer or Grimm for a bounty. That, along with staying in the background and warning the others of enemies. If it was a mission they didn't need the whole team for, Blake and Neptune would ultimately be left behind.
If Yang, Sun and Ilia were the police, consider Neptune and Blake the detectives. Which, of course, Neptune didn't have a big problem with it considering he and Sun had the great opportunity of being junior detectives before.
Calling them the police wasn't that far-fetched either, they basically were. A tons of bounties on their route were completed successfully and without causality. They were heroes.
Everyone knows that one huntsman can accomplish more than your average police officer. Cops haven't mastered auras or semblances and can sometimes be defeated quite easily, that's where huntsman come in. One key difference is Huntsman get paid out-of-pocket and can very well get arrested for how they do their jobs. Cops get paid through whoever governs the area and can only take jobs from what gets called in. They can freely use weapons as needed and what they do do counts as "whatever it takes" to get the job done, unless they're openly dirty cops or traitors and commit treason.
As you can see...the crime-fighting system isn't perfect. It's a flawed man-made societal system. All it does is bring out unlicensed vigilantes and raise the amount of dirty cops looking to make an extra buck in exchange for their mutiny. It also brings out more people who commit crimes against their kingdom in the name of Salem either for protection or reward.
People like that are put on notice on mission boards everyday and it's been one of the main things putting more Lien in the team's pockets. The other being the age-old mission of fighting Grimm.
"It really blows my mind how easily people can betray their own kingdom." Neptune said as he and the team walked on the stone-block road through a small town in search for an inn.
"Fear and money does that to you."
"That last guy we brung into the cops put an entire village full of women and children in danger when he himself had a whole family! He was crying to Blake the entire time for killing that guard snag his wallet...and all of that just for the bandits that threatened him to take everything he owned."
Sun shrugged. "I dunno what to tell ya man. Shit happens...That's why we're here..and that's why those bandits are imprisoned."
"They should be in the ground along with the innocent people they killed." Ilia added.
Blake shook her head to herself.
Her and Neptune had a chance to take each and every one of those bandits out while they were incapacitated. She chose to hand them over to the authorities instead.
It was almost like the part of her that told her; she was a huntress, she should be able to easily exterminate any threat to humanity was..broken. Ever since she and Adam did that mission on the train and he was willingly going to let the conductor and other working passengers aboard it die, she hesitated more.
