~Yes it's a flashback~

Yang leaned back and rested her head against the wall, scrolling and swiping on her scroll. Anything to not have to pay attention the giggles of Blake having a conversation with Sun on hers.

It was driving her insane but she tried her best to conceal that.

Weiss sat on her bunk with Ruby as they both studied together for an upcoming exam. This was not the first time she had to do this. If she wasn't keeping Ruby focused, then the happy little ball of energy would've failed a long time ago. At least academically. Her hands-on work assignments were close to perfect, as were the rest of them.

Yang would love to go out into the forest right this moment with the rest of her team. They had an assignment waiting, and would be called in after their dorm neighbors, Team JNPR, were ready as well.

As luck would have it, a knock on the door grabbed the girls' attention.

Ruby excitedly jumped up to answer it, revealing a soft smile and wave behind it.

"Hey Ruby. You guys ready?" Jaune asked.

She returned the smile with an even wider grin. "We were born ready!" Crimson-tipped hair flew viciously in the poor blond's face as Ruby whipped around.

Surprised, she already saw that Yang was front and center obviously in a hurry to leave. She watched her big sister greet them and start walking down the hall, not at all the outgoing girl she usually was.

Ruby couldn't put her finger on what was bothering her today, but she didn't like it one bit.

Both Team RWBY and JNPR stood at the dead center of Emerald Forest. It was in fact a big place, full of tall trees creating a forest that held as a home for many Grimm. Luckily, they've been here before and had a better chance at navigation.

Professor Port had just left after giving them specific instructions on what to get done, but not how to get it done. That'd be up to the team leaders to decide.

Jaune conversed with Ruby about a game plan. Port asked had them to eradicate at least one of every species of Grimm that resided there. That would require everyone's help and their specialties. Each leader knew the strength of each member they led, Ruby's input on her team would be great right now..but she was distracted.

"Uh, Ruby?" Jaune spoke, breaking her out of her thoughts.

"Huh?"

"Are you alright? Nervous?"

She giggled. "Nah, we can take them."
He nodded. "I just..want everybody's head to be in the right place for this is all." She turned to her sister, who sat quietly beside Blake as they both packed in rounds into their weapons.

Weiss bent over to hand Blake a dust cartridge, and the faunas smiled in appreciation.

The heiress then walked over to Yang. Violet eyes met an icy blue and before she could say anything, Yang was already being pulled away.

Weiss was slowly but surely trying to be a better person than she was before. She learned to tolerate Ruby, mended things with Blake, and got closer to all of them after she let her guard down. She could now say they were friends, and when she saw that Yang wasn't her usual self, she stepped up.
