America POV

As I follow the guard to find my husband, the guilt of what I did set in. I left him to his own worry because I was scared to face the truth. Not only did I leave him alone, I left my two amazing kids. I was selfish and I shouldn't have done this.

"Your Highness, the King said he wants to meet you in his study," the guard says, starting to lead me up to the room.

"Thank you Officer Minnick, but I know the way. Thank you for your help," I say, but before I can walk on, he addresses me.

"I am sorry Your Highness, but he has asked me to guide you up personally."

All I could think is he is angry and that this is to scowled me, so I nod to allow Officer Minnick to do his job. Still following his towering body, something I never felt before set it. Anxiety. I know Maxon wouldn't hurt me, but then again I would have never done this to him. The last time I did this, I almost lost my life.

Flash Back

"Your Highness we need to get you to a safe place, we are under attack," and officer says frantically as he enters my study. I had almost for got that the alarm was broke in the last attack.

"How close are they?" I ask grabbing my jacket before following him.

"To be honest I don't know," he says realizing he doesn't know the danger he could put me in.

"Hey it's okay. There is a safe room just down this hall, go, I'll be okay," I say before running one way and he runs the other. What I didn't know was there was a rebel just around the corner waiting for me.

"Hello Your Highness," the dirty male says to me as he makes a grab for me. That was the wrong thing to do. What no one knows is I went through a self defense training, which came in handy. I took the man down with in a couple of hits, but what got me was his friends were coming to his side. Before I knew it, someone grabbed my from behind, and someone else slammed their fist against my head. I blacked out.

The last thing I hear was "Kill her. Show them we mean business."

Present Time

We get to the door before I realize that I was in tears remembering that. The officer looked worried, but I just shook my head and walked into Maxon's room. As I look up, I saw something I never thought I would ever see.
