Maxon's POV

I wake up late at night to my beautiful wife sleeping next to me. I try to snuggle closer to her to fall back to sleep, but it was at that moment I remembered I was supposed to talk to a prisoner to see why he was trying to leave. I slowly move off the bed to not wake up America, and silently get dressed in a grey suit with a dark grey tie. I give my wife one last look before I went out and made my way to the jail cells under the castle. On my walk I was given a few glances, but all bowed slightly in respect. I kept walking till I came to face with two guards in front of the door of which blocked me from seeing the prisoner.

"Your Majesty," the one says as he opens up the door and bows to me as I walk through the door. Right as I step through the door was closed, but not locked in case I needed out right away.

"What is your name officer," I order looking at the man sitting in a chair in the middle of the room. He seems to be about 5'10 with light brown hair and dark grey eyes.

"Officer Wallace," He answers, bowing his head.

"Do you know why you're here?"

"Because I tried to leave," he responds with some hesitation.

"And why did you try to leave?" I ask pulling a chair from the corner over so I can sit and see him in the eyes.

"I can't say sir, I am sorry," he says looking me in the eyes. I can see his honesty but also fear.

"You're scared, why?"

"They threatened my family, he has them!" he says franticly like he just remembered and needs to save them.

"Who has them Wallace? We can help you if you just tell me," I coax

"I can't he will kill them. He probably thinks I am not going to help. They probably are already dead," he says slumping in his chair, letting a tear roll down his face.

"If you tell me who and why they kidnapped them, and I will do everything I can to save your family. I promise. You have your king's word about that," I say trying to show my sincerity.

"There rebels, they wanted to know how to get in here without detection. They want to hurt you like you hurt them," he says quietly. I nod and get up from where I was sitting.

"And what were you going to tell them," I say deadpan.

"A lie in hope they would leave my family be and I was going to hide with them," he responds.

"Okay I wish you would have told someone, but I understand why. In all honesty I would have done the same thing. With this I need you to help guide us to the meet up spot so maybe we can figure out where your family is, and we can save them. For now, I am going to have you transferred to a room with surveillance, but a better place than this. Goodbye Wallace, and thank you," I say before leaving to talk with my cabinet about this new information.
