Stef's POV
Its been 1 months since I've been here, In this life. Feels like I am starting to lose touch with reality. Me and grey have been working really hard and now I think its time for us to get into action. We have been trying to get in with the kingpin but cant touch him. We have a meeting tonight with one of his flunkies and I'm hoping it goes well so I can get out of here and back to Lena. I miss her so much it hurts. I cant believe its been this long. I often wonder if she is waiting for me or if she thinks I'm dead. I hope that my letter got to her.
Flashback 1 months ago
Grey and I get into his car and drive with what seems like hours. I drift off, to tired to stay awake. I wake as the car finally comes to a stop. I open my eyes and look around my unfamiliar surroundings. Grey turns to me and tells me to get out of the car. I get out of the car and walk to the back where I see a Target.
"Where are we?" I ask.
" We are 30 miles outside of Phoenix."
"Phoenix, on my God. Why is this happening to me."
Grey looks at me with angry eyes and say, "You I'm not going to continue to hear this. It is what it is. You agreed and its time to get to work. The faster we crack this case the faster we can both get home."
He was right! All I can think about is Lena and how she is going to be so confused.
"You're right. I'm all in now. How long do you think this will take exactly?"
"Not sure. Hopefully no more than 6 months."
I swallow hard. Making sure that I don't say another word or what I'm thinking.
"So this is the deal we go in, get enough clothes and toiletries to last about 2 week then we will go to our apartment and get our last briefing. It's very important that we are not seen together in the store just encase we are being followed. So here is your credit card and license. keep your hat on and head down. We both have 30 mins then meet back at the car. You go in first."
I look at him and take the cards out of his hand before I start walking towards the entrance of the store. I slip the cards in my back pocket and process to the women section. The cart is full with stuff before I ever get to the toiletry isle. As I am passing through I see the Grey in the men section still getting clothes. I walk faster as I approach the card isle. I grab a card and an envelope as fast as I can and open a pack of pens. I still have my eyes on Grey as I write a paragraph trying to explain as much as I could in the little time that I had. I seal the Card and wrote Lena name and address on the front. I look around to see if I could spot a worthy bystander to do my dirty work. I see an elderly women that looks to be about 70. I walk up to her.
"Ma'am. I'm so sorry to bother you but I was wondering if you could do me a huge favor."
She looks at me confuse.
"Dear are you ok?"
"Yes ma'am I'm great, but I need you to do something for me. I'm not from here and I was wondering if you could mail a letter for me?"
She looks down at the letter that is in my hand not sure of what to say.
"Ma'am I assure you that there is nothing wrong. I just don't have time to send it from this town and I'm traveling around the world asking random people to send letters to my beautiful daughter. She wants us to surprise her with every stop that I make."
"Oh dear well why didn't you say that in the beginning."
"Im sorry I should have."
She takes the letter and I hand her a $100 dollar bill. She looks at me and I already know what she is thinking. I know its much but it is what my daughter and I agreed. Just please send it to her. She's waiting for it.
"Of course dear."
And with that I walk off thanking her again. My love is in her hands.
I stand in line awaiting for the casher to finish ringing up my stuff. She tells me the total and I pull out my card and hand it to her. She swipes my card and hands it back to me.
"Here you go. Hope you have a great day Mrs. Lennard."
I take the card back and start to push my cart while I take a look at the credit card and license. Christina Kennard from Chicago, Illinois. I look up and see Grey waiting at the car.
"Got everything." Grey says.
I nod my head and e pack up the car and head for Phoenix. It takes about 40 till we are pulling up to Sky Harbor Inn Studio Apartment complex. This has got to be the worst part of Phoenix. Just looking around I can tell that there is a lot of gang activity.
Grey tell me to leave everything in the car while we walk up to the apartment. The apartment is a fully furniture 1 bedroom apartment.
"One bedroom?" I turn around and ask Grey.
"Yes. Johnson should be here shortly to brief us on everything shortly, if he is not already here."
I look at him puzzled.
"Wouldn't we know if he was here already."
"Not quite. Follow me."
I following behind Grey into the bathroom. Its a fairly large bathroom for a one bedroom apartment. He opens up the bathroom's closet door that has 3 shelf full of towels and wash cloths. He reaches to the left side of the closet and pushes a button. Next thing I know the wall to the closet shelf pop open. he pushed the trap door open and walks in with me following. This is the apartment on the other side of the apartment complex. It look exactly the same except it is full of ammo, Guns, vest, drugs, money, cameras, and anything else you can think of for and undercover sting. I continue to follow Grey into the bedroom, which has no bed but a table that is sitting in the middle of the room. There is a man sitting at the table smoking a cigarettes. I assume that this is Johnson.
"Welcome. I see you two made it safely." Johnson says.
"Yes. Long drive but finally made it. This is officer Stefanie Foster."
I extend my hand out to take his but he just looks at me.
"So this is who Mike sends? Are you kidding me?" Johnson says.
"Ummmm yeah. She came highly recommend." Grey says
"Yeah, I'm sure. I'll be surprised if she make a month. Look at her. She wants hand shake for shit sake."
Johnson looks at me.
"Do you even know who Drew Turner is?
He stares at me waiting from an answer. But I don't have one for him. He was right. I knew nothing about why I was even here. I just found out yesterday.
"Look. cool it Johnson. Lets not forget who works for who around here." Grey says.
Grey and I just stand there waiting for his next move. He is angry but knows he cant do anything about it.
"Fine, whatever, its your funeral. In those boxes over there is all the information that we have on Turner. You have about 1 month to brief yourselves with all the information. In that time you will then meet with another undercover cop that has been in for 4 years. He will introduce you to a couple of Turners flunkies. It will then be up to you what happens next. Just remember you are to have no contact with anyone on the force unless I have arranged it. Also no contact with family. In this room, is everything you need to survive. There are 4 prepaid phone that you can use to contact me. Leave the calls to 1 min then disposal of the phone immediately. Do you have any questions?"
We both look at each other and say "No" simultaneously.
