Sectumsempra

Harry watched Y/N pick at the food on her plate, he's been worried about her ever since what happened to Katie Bell. She was pulled back to reality when she saw the snowflakes slowly piling up and dissipating in her goblet.

"Stop it Ron, you're making it snow!" Hermione scolded Ron, making him shift in his seat uncomfortably.

"Tell me how I broke up with Lavender again." Ron demanded, making Y/N, Hermione, and Harry have a silent exchange of who should tell him.

Hermione sighed and told him what Y/N and Harry had already gone over with him ever since he woke up. Ron was glad to be out of it, there was no denying that.

"You say you don't remember anything... from that night, anything at all?" Hermione subtly prodded.

"There is something..." Ron trailed,
Y/N watched as Hermione's breath hitched in her throat. She did her best to try and hide the hopeful look in her eyes.

"But it can't be, I was completely boggled wasn't I?" Ron let out an awkward chuckle, not seeing Hermione's downcasted face.

"Boggled." Y/N heard her mutter under her breath. She quickly made a mental note to slap Ron upside his thick head some other time.

"Y/N, there's Katie," Hermione whispered making both her and Harry look up at once. "Katie Bell."

Harry had already gotten up before Y/N could stop him. She shot Hermione a meaningful look before following him to where Katie was.

She stopped at his side and pulled the sleeve of his jumper. "I'm very sorry, Katie. We were just really worried about you." Y/N gave her an apologetic smile before glaring at Harry.

"I know you're going to ask Harry, but I really don't know who cursed me." Katie looked at Y/N letting her know it was alright.

"I've been trying to remember, but I just can't." Her eyes drifted momentarily to something behind them. Harry and Y/N followed her gaze, seeing Draco already rushing out the great hall.

Draco ran as fast as his feet could let him, the guilt in his gut he could no longer handle.

Katie Bell has already returned from St. Mungo's, she looked well but he knew better. She was going to be forever scarred from the curse he, Draco, had casted upon her. He didn't mean to harm anyone else, let alone make her witness every part of it but Y/N and her friends were already following through with their assumptions

He couldn't risk getting caught on his secret task either, now he felt as if he were being cornered. Draco pushed his way through the halls and made sure to keep his head down. A second more and he was about to break. He loosened his tie that seemed to be strangling him and he braced his hands on the sink. Stopping himself from vomitting his insides, he turned the faucet on, the running water echoing through the deserted bathroom.

He splashed his face with cold water and he couldn't avoid looking at his own reflection in the mirror. Draco let out a strangled sob, letting the tears come in waves. He was shaking as his body racked from his own guilt and watched as it slowly went down the drain with his tears.

"I know what you did Malfoy," Draco's head snapped up to the mirror and saw Harry Potter standing far behind him.

"You hexed her didn't you?" Harry stood his ground as Malfoy turned around, his breathing ragged.

He jumped to his side just in time, dodging as Draco's spell hit the door.

Y/N stopped to catch her breath, clutching her chest as she felt her head buzz with adrenaline. She managed to lose Harry a few corners back and she cursed herself for not being athletic.
Harry couldn't possibly just go up to Draco and accuse him of something he didn't do, or something she hoped he didn't do atleast.

She doubled over on her knees, trying to steady her shallow breathing when she saw the floor slowly flood with water. Y/N followed the water to the boy's bathroom which door was ajar. She felt dread slowly creep up as she entered the threshold, hearing a boy's pained sobs grow louder and louder as she drew closer.

A horrified gasp left her lips as she saw Harry standing over a figure sprawled on the floor in a pool of blood. Her heart twisting when she caught a glimpse of who it was.
Harry turned around, his eyes full of panic.

"I—I didn't mean to— I didn't know—" Harry tripped over his own words as she watched Y/N kneel beside Draco.

"Don't just stand there! Get some help!" Harry didn't need to be told twice as he ran outside.

Y/N's hand hovered over his bloody chest, afraid she might hurt him. He started to cough and sob even more when he saw her face, twisting the knife in her heart even deeper. "I'm really sorry Y/N," She brushed away the hair from his face which was ghostly pale. "I r–really am," He continued to sob as he reached out for her.

"No, don't be," She grasped his hand tightly, drawing a loud and painful sound from his lips. "You'll be alright." She willed herself to believe her own words and sound reassuring yet he somehow knew she was terrified.

"No," He rasped, his eyes dragging up to her face as his vision slowly blurred. "I have to tell you something," He raised a shaky hand to her cheek, caressing it gently.

"I–I didn't have a choice," He whimpered, his breath catching in his throat every so often. Draco's voice was so broken that it made her heart ache, making her cast his indirect confession aside.

"Please forgive me," He pleaded, a tear falling from his eye before they fluttered shut and his hand went limp. Y/N's blood went ice cold in fear as she struggled to find his pulse. It was faint and slow but still there.

Someone had already reported the fight and Harry came back sooner with Snape. His heart sinking as the professor casted him a knowing look. Harry turned his back and headed outside to breathe for some air as he waited for Y/N.

She was dead silent on their way back to the common room, but Harry couldn't blame her. He hated himself for it, if he knew that it wasn't just a simple hex he would never have used it, even on Draco.

Harry was surprised when she spoke up as they stopped infront of the portrait hole.

"You were right," She looked at him with an unreadable expression on her face.

"What do you mean?"

"It was him, Harry. Are you happy now?" She deadpanned, making Harry swallow hard.

"You know I would never harm anyone on purpose Y/N, not even him." He made a grab for her arm, watching her resolve falter.

"I didn't know what it would do. It just said in the book that it was for enemies and I—" Harry looked down at his hands, unable to look at them without seeing Draco's blood. Y/N watched him with wary eyes and shook her head in disbelief.

"I know, I— I'm sorry for being so stubborn and insensitive." Her heart ached, knowing that their suspicions were indeed correct. But she swore to herself that any more information about Draco would never leave her lips again.

"But we need to get rid of that bloody book."
