Y/N studied the sleeping figure lying before her, because Draco Malfoy had never looked so innocent and peaceful.

She propped herself up with her elbow and brushed the locks out of his face. His breathing steady and at ease. She memorized every defined feature of his face, afraid that she might forget somehow.

"I know I'm good looking but I didn't know I was that good looking." Draco cocked an eye open to see if she really was staring at him. Her mouth fell open in surprise, making his pull into a lazy smirk.

"I thought you were sleeping."
She lowered her face beside his and watched his beauty from a new perspective. How his lashes were unfairly longer than hers and how his silver eyes fluttered open when he felt her breath fanning his face.

"I was, but how can I sleep when I know that you're staring at me."

She rolled her eyes and turned over on her side opposite to him. "Cheeky bastard," Draco heard her mutter under her breath, registering a hearty laugh from him.

He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her close. Resting his face in the crook of her neck, the smell of her Y/H/C hair invading his senses. She turned on her side to face him and instantly met his intense gaze. Y/N couldn't help but stare into the stormy grey eyes that she'd grown to love over the past few years.

Her eyes trailed from his eyes to his sharp nose and his pink lips that quirked into a smile. "You're doing it again." he whispered, their faces were only inches away yet
Y/N restrained herself from closing the distance between them. She wanted to savour this moment forever.

"I can't help it! I happened to end up being with a good looking bloke." It was her turn to laugh when Draco's eyebrows shot up to her amusement."Quite the lucky one are you?" He started tickling her sides, making her wriggle underneath him.

"Stop." She sputtered through giggles and uncontrollable laughter. Draco's eyes were trained on hers who were so full of light and joy, the exact opposite of his. And he wanted this to last forever too, though he knew in the back of his mind that it couldn't.

He stopped his assault and lied there, watching the love of his life beside him, fearing that it might be the last.

"Look who's eating their own words now." A mischievous smile crept up Y/N's lips. "I know I'm good looking but I didn't know I was that good looking." She mocked, making him chuckle.

Her hands went up to the sides of his face, Draco instantly leaning into her warm touch. Never knowing that he could feel home when it was miles away in reality, let alone being in Hogwarts.

A place where he never sought for love and belongingness. Only for power and constant domination among others who's bloodline was not worthy. Yet here he was, finding his salvation in a mere muggle-born who has somehow figured out how to dominate him. A muggle-born who was a proof that they were a far better class than what they acceded them to be and the only thing he didn't want his father to hear about, which was really ironic in a mean way.

Draco was yanked out of his reverie when he felt her trying to smooth the crease on his forehead.

"What are you thinking of?" She hummed patiently when it took him a while to answer.

"Why are we here Y/N?" Her hands ceased what they were doing at his words.

"What do you mean?" He watched her knit together in confusion.

"Why are we together? Why have you still chosen me after all I've done to you? Why me?" He asked, sucking the air out of her lungs.
She was never rendered speechless but now it seems that she couldn't find a proper answer.

Draco watched as she opened her mouth as if she had something to say, only to close it again and for her to drop her gaze. "I don't know what you want me to say." Her voice was so lost and fragile. She withdrew her hands from his face, the warmth vanishing and twisting his heart all at once.

There was a painful silence that came after that, a quietness so loud and unnerving. The world seemed to revolve around him again when she finally spoke up. "All I know is that — that our pasts can not and should not define what lies in the future."

Her eyes dragged up to his face, watching him listen to everything she had to say. "You see it doesn't matter what people want us to believe Draco," She looked into his eyes, searching for the boy she loved "It's what we believe that matters." He watched as tears started to brim in her eyes and he mentally berated himself for making her cry. "And because of that, I believe in you and I believe in us." She whispered, her voice small but he heard it loud and clear.

His hands went up to her face and pulled her in to close the distance between them, her soft lips slotting against his. Just a simple innocent act that was of pure love and adoration. He pulled away leaving her in a daze, his eyes falling on hers once more.

"I'm sorry. For everything I've done." he whispered. Y/N nodded meekly and rested her cheek against his chest, listening to the steady thrum of his heartbeat.

And for everything I'm about to do.

Draco planted a kiss to her hair and pulled her closer still. They lied there, staying unmoved in the covers of her bed and forgetting the world for a little while.
