Vindication
•~•~•~•~•~•Cradling her arms to her chest,
Y/N tried to ignore the very annoying paper boy that insisted on her buying a copy of the Daily Prophet.'The Boy Who Had No Choice or No Conscience?' It says on the headline, making her restrain herself from acceding to buy one just to smack him with.
That paper was full of nothing but lies, even from before the war had begun. They needed a change of management to be honestly speaking, because she knew all too well that it was all but digs against none other than Draco.
Even she herself only knew half of the pain and trouble he had to go through in these past two years, but that didn't matter because the whole Wizarding World didn't know the bloody truth. The Daily Prophet even did a fine job of adding and blurring it up with even more lies.
It was unfair, but life really sought to remind them that.
She entered the lift without another word to the operator since they were all headed to the same floor. As the door slid open, they poured into the dark hall with Y/N in front. Her feet carrying her closer and closer to the room she was most anxious to be in.
The doors automatically swung open, the newcomers filing in and looking for the nearest vacant seats. To her dismay, she found herself at the very front. She didn't trust herself, she might think of doing something absurd and make circumstances worse than they already were. Her heart was hammering against her ribs when she heard the low rumble of the metal cage, slowly bringing the accused up for everyone to see.
She closed her eyes shut, waiting for any violent reaction, but there was none. As it fluttered open, she swallowed hard at the sight of him or atleast what looks like him.
The once intimidating pair of eyes were now sunken and marred with dark circles. The cuts on his hollow cheeks looked like they were self-inflicted and what's even worse were the ones on his neck and wrists. The aurors drew closer and adjusted the sharp spikes, leaving no room for sudden movements thought it seemed unnecessary because Draco remained still.
The silence was deafening. The newly appointed Prime Minister, Kingsley Shacklebolt, spoke up in his normal sonorus-like voice.
"Draco Malfoy, former Death-Eater and follower of Vo... Voldemort," A chilling series of shudders broke out from all around the room. Wizards and witches alike, all murmuring and whispering to themselves at the mention of the late dark wizard's name.
"Captured for numerous crimes and brought in today's hearing for the questioning of the whereabouts of the remaining Death-Eaters..."
Draco was staring blankly at his feet and didn't seem to hear a single word. "You may identify the names and locations now."He remained solemnly silent and not a single word passed his lips. The wizard next to Y/N who was starting to get agitated, startled her when he stood up to yell down at him. "Well?! Don't just stand there you traitor! Speak up!"
His voice reverberated throughout the whole room. Everybody waited for a response but there was only silence.
"Tell everyone where the rest of you lot are hiding!" A woman from across the room demanded, standing up from her seat.
"Your fool of a father had a lot of nerve working here, running his mouth when he didn't need to and holding back when he actually did!"
