Treat You Better

Y/N smiled in the mirror, taking in her appearance once more. She was dressed in a beautiful, green ball gown and her hair was tied into a low bun, accesorised with faux crystals. Putting a lot of effort in how she would look this fine evening.

Harry insisted on her being his date for the ball but Y/N really wanted to be Ron's partner so she devised a plan with her friend Parvati. That's how she ended up being partnered with Ron, and she was glad it worked out so well that she forgot about telling Hermione.

Speaking of which, was nowhere to be found since their last class. Y/N was sure that she already had a date and that she was mad at Ron. It just seemed so perfectly planned that Y/N had a nagging feeling at the back of her head, telling her something was bound to go wrong. But nevertheless, she was still really happy with the ways things turned out. All she had to do was have fun with the person she liked the most.

People glancing her way made her feel self-conscious. She kept her head low and avoided eye contact which made her bump into a
not-so-friendly face. Draco scowled and was ready to curse whoever had the nerve to interrupt him when he saw who it was. His tongue seemed to be tied up that all he could do was stare at her.

"Watch where you're going Potter." Pansy said through her teeth. She looked at Y/N from head to toe and refrained from showing the jealousy in her face. Even she couldn't deny that somehow Y/N looked good, even better than her tonight.

"Hey Y/N! Down here!" Y/N was relieved to hear Parvati's familiar voice. She hurrried an apology even though it was against her will and walked down the stairs only to trip on the last step.

"Woah, easy there." Ron catched her before her knees could hit the ground. Her heart beated so fast that she was afraid Ron might feel it through his ruffles. When she balanced herself up, she wasn't sure if her contacts were working properly.

"You look..." She tried her best to suppress her grin which made Ron flush. "Oh shut up." He scowled at her, dampening the atmosphere.

"I was gonna say dashing."

"This is all mum's fault." he grumbled, looking down at his dress robes.

"You look fine Ron." Harry assured him, patting him on the shoulder "And you look beautiful Y/N." Harry gave her sister a warm smile, making her as red as her hair. "Not as beautiful as Ron though." Harry added, making her and Parvati laugh. Ron just rolled his eyes at his companions.

Professor McGonagall came by and informed them where to stand since Harry and Parvati needed to be the first ones to dance. Y/N dragged Ron to an open space so they can dance right after the Triwizard Champions.

"Hey Y/N." She wheeled around to look at him who seemed to be looking at someone else. It was Hermione with Viktor Krum, Hermione waved at them with a not-so-enthusiastic smile which made Y/N's heart sink. No, Hermione's happy for her just like she is, she thought. But when she looked up at Ron again, she knew that he wasn't happy for Hermione.

After the Champions, it was everyone's time to dance. "Come on Ron, let's dance." she tugged at Ron's frilly sleeve but he wouldn't budge, making her heart sink even lower.

"I think I need to have a seat." He pried his hand free and walked to a nearby table. Y/N took a seat beside him and was afraid to speak. "Viktor Krum, what an oaf." He grumbled into his ruffles which could've been adorable if it wasn't for the fact that he was being jealous.
