London, 1959
Ruby Sheridan, a young blonde woman was sitting next to the window of her room watching the sunrise. Being an orphan since childhood, she grew up without any parent and only found consolation in music: it was her whole life. Ruby could sing like an angel and all the people that knew her agreed to say her voice was as sweet as sugarcane. As the sun was enlightening the streets of London, Ruby was thoughtful, dreaming of becoming a well known singer someday.(Song: I Have a Dream)
YOUNG RUBY – I have a dream, a song to sing
To help me cope with anything
If you see the wonder of a fairy tale
You can take the future even if you fail
I believe in angels
Something good in everything I see
I believe in angels
When I know the time is right for me
I'll cross the stream
I have a dreamAs she turned back walking through the room, her friends had awaken and began singing along with her.
YOUNG RUBY & HER FRIENDS - I have a dream, a fantasy
To help me through reality
And my destination makes it worth the while
Pushing through the darkness still another mile
I believe in angels
Something good in everything I see
I believe in angels
When I know the time is right for me
I'll cross the stream
I have a dream
I'll cross the streamYOUNG RUBY - I have a dream
Suddenly, the clock rang 6:00 AM; everybody got up quickly from their beds preparing themselves for a tough cleaning day. Indeed, Ruby and her friends were working as servants for some rich family.
(Music: Money, Money, Money – instrumental)
After a long day of work, as the sun was setting, Ruby could finally relax.
YOUNG RUBY - What a day! I think I'll be sleeping for the next 14 hours!
However, today was her birthday and her friends had prepared her a surprise.
