Back in the past, the following day, Ruby and Donna's photo had made the front page of all the newspapers with a big title saying:
Ruby Sheridan has a daughter! But who's the father?
At the small theatre of the recording company, Ruby was practicing for her upcoming concert when she stumbled upon a magazine discovering the scandal that had been created around her and her daughter.

(Song: I'm A Marionette)

YOUNG RUBY - "You're so free", that's what everybody's telling me
Yet I feel I'm like an outward-bound, pushed around, refugee
Something's wrong, got a feeling that I don't belong
As if I had come from outer space, out of place, like King Kong

Feeling betrayed and kind of humiliated, she externalized her anger by singing and dancing fiercely on stage, miming the movements of a marionette.

YOUNG RUBY - I'm a marionette, just a marionette, pull the string
I'm a marionette, everybody's pet, just as long as I sing
I'm a marionette, see my pirouette, round and round
I'm a marionette, I'm a marionette, just a silly old clown

Later, Ruby is seen walking though the corridor of the building.

YOUNG RUBY - Can't complain, I've got no-one but myself to blame
Something's happening I can't control, lost my hold, it's insane!

As the electric guitar solo began, Ruby entered the office of the record company head Mr. Bennett Wilson, showing him the magazine she was handing.

YOUNG RUBY – Could you explain me this?

BENNETT WILSON – Ruby! We were waiting for you.

YOUNG RUBY - I'm listening

BENNETT WILSON – Well, seeing the growing infatuation towards the scandal around your daughter, we were thinking of a new marketing strategy involving her into your career. We'll begin by making a photo shoot starring both of you. After that, she'll have to accompany you through press conferences and other interviews. Maybe we can also compose a song around her that you'll perform as a duo. Believe me Ruby; it's going to double your success.

YOUNG RUBY – I hope you're joking... Sir, I'll never use my daughter as a marketing magnet. Leave her out of all this.

Trying to leave the building, Ruby got thwarted by a gigantic crowd. Fans, journalists and paparazzo who had all been waiting for her at the exit.

YOUNG RUBY"Look this way, just a little smile, " is what they say
"You look better on the photograph if you laugh, that's okay"
I'm a marionette, I'm a marionette

(Song: Get On the Carousel – gets mixed with I'm A Marionette)

PEOPLE - Get on the carousel!

YOUNG RUBYI'm a marionette, I'm a marionette

PEOPLE - Get on! The roundabout is just beginning
Get on! It's fun to see the world a-spinning
Get on the carousel!

YOUNG RUBY - Well, all I really wanna do is get off

PEOPLE - Get on the carousel!

YOUNG RUBY - Well, all I really wanna do is get off

Pushing through the crowd and helped by some bodyguards, Ruby headed to her limousine and locked herself in. However, the people threw themselves on the car, forbidding the driver to start off the engine. From the inside, Ruby was experiencing a horrific view with dozens of faces flatted all over the windows.

PEOPLE - Get on! Your happiness is waiting for you

YOUNG RUBY - It's only making me scared

PEOPLE - Get on! Be famous, let the world adore you

YOUNG RUBY - And I don't really care

PEOPLE - Get on the carousel!

YOUNG RUBY - Well, all I really wanna do is get off

PEOPLE - Get on the carousel!

YOUNG RUBY - Oh, I really wanna go

The bodyguards succeeded in pulling away the crowd from the limousine which forthwith started and rolled speedily away.

YOUNG RUBY - I feel so dizzy I wanna go
Listen!
Now I don't think I can take much more
So can't you tell 'em to make it slow
Listen!
I want the speed that I had before
I'm feeling sick and I wanna stop
Spinning!
So won't you let me get off this thing?
I got a feeling I reached the top
Spinning!
I only wanted to dance and sing!

Arriving at the villa by night, Ruby got off the limousine and ran towards the inside of the house. Closing the front door, she collapsed all exhausted on the floor. When she regained her senses, she went upstairs and entering Donna's room, she found her asleep near the TV that was broadcasting one of Ruby's concerts. Donna was wearing her mother's stage clothes. Ruby was her idol and her biggest dream was to be like her. Smiling at what she had just saw, Ruby carried her daughter to her bed and bordered her after giving her a goodnight kiss.
