We've been in the car for less than 30 minutes and Ian asks for my sweatshirt because it's cold in the car. I keep one in the backseat of his car because we're always hanging out, plus there aren't many places in SoCal you can wear a hoodie or sweatshirt other than a cold car or house. I turn around and grab it as he pulls into a Taco Bell drive-thru. "Why are we stopping here?" I ask handing it to him. The line to order is stopped so he takes the opportunity to slip the sweatshirt on, "I want a freeze (slushie). You want one?" I nod and pull my book out of my bag, might as well kill some time. Ian orders and pulls to the window, the boy takes the money and hands the two brightly colored drinks to him before realizing who he is. "Hey you're Idubbbz, can I get a pic?" Ian nods and the kid sneaks out his phone. Ian puts up a peace sign and smiles that trademark grin again as the boy takes his picture. We pull out of the drive-thru and are back on the road, which meant I was back in my book.  *30 MIN TIME SKIP* I zoned out reading only to be pulled back to reality by Ian singing way off-key to a random Post Malone song. I close my book laughing and turn to take a picture of him, gotta document the good road trip memories. He pushes his hair out of his face and starts laughing too as I take the picture. He turns down the radio. "So we've got like an hour left before we get there, I should probably tell you that you get to meet one of my friends this week. And before you even ask, no I'm not telling you who it is." I frown and mentally flip him off. Hopefully, his friend is less annoying. "Imma take a nap. Wake me up when we get there?" I put my book back in my backpack and curl up in my seat. "You got it kiddo," he says and takes a sip of what was left of his drink. And with that, I doze off unaware my surprise was waiting for me at the beach house.
