XXVIII

Maria,Steve,Sam and Valerie had moved from the underground facility and made their way to S.H.I.E.L.D.'s base.It appeared easy for her to get to the building unnoticed since Maria knew every little door and window in the whole building.Plus they were able to knock out everyone on their path.

The brunette had pulled her hood up and held her bow at her hand just in case.They entered the building in no time and found their way to the panel room.There were a few grunts from the other side before the door opened.Maria and Sam pointed their guns at the man on the door."Excuse us."Steve said.Always the gentleman.

The man raised his hands as he backed away inside the room.Valerie took a hold of the men that still sat on the panel and raised them up from their chairs,Sam and Maria knocked them cold as Steve leaned against a microphone on the panel.

"Attention,all S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.This is Steve Rogers.You've heard a lot about me over the last few days,some of you were even ordered to hunt me down.But I think it's time you know the truth."he paused for a few seconds."S.H.I.E.L.D. is not what we thought it was,it's been taken over by HYDRA.

"Alexander Pierce is their leader.The STRIKE and Insight crew are HYDRA as well.I don't know how many more,but I know they're in the building.They could be standing right next to you.They almost have what they want:absolute control.They shot Nick Fury and it won't end there.If you launch those Helicarriers today, HYDRA will be able to kill anyone that stands in their way,unless we stop them.I know I'm asking a lot,but the price of freedom is high,it always has been,and it's a price I'm willing to pay. And if I'm the only one,"he paused once more,Maria turning to look his way."then so be it.But I'm willing to bet I'm not."

Valerie had a smile stuck across her face as she placed a hand on Steve's arm."That was one hell of a good inspiration speech."He really did have everything planned.The blond smiled lightly at her before Sam joined them.

"Did you write that down first,or was it off the top of your head?"he asked a grin breaking on his face as well.There was a small pause before commotion could be heard from lowers levels of the building.

"I'm getting a head start,I'll see you soon."Valerie nodded at everyone and fled the room.On her way out she heard gunshots.Rumlow.He probably tried to get control and tell everyone to do as he said.She run down the hallway finding a few targets on the way.

They raised their guns and fired at her.She was quick to slid across the floor bringing her bow low to their legs,knocking them on the ground.She quickly got up as a third one came running in front of her.She clicked a button on her belt a metal circle fell on her hand.She threw it on the man making his body shake with an electric wave.

She quickly turned as the men from before had started to get up.She took two arrows out sending them their way,knocking them out for good.A fourth man followed."Can you stop coming already?"she complained as the man approached.She twirled around,the back of her foot hitting him straight on the neck.He clenched his neck in pain.She then kick him on the chest sending him across the floor to handle himself.

She started running again,up a lot of stairs.Her lungs and legs burnt her by the time she reached the helicarriers on the roof.Ahead of her Steve and Sam running under the hot sun.

"They're initiating launch."she heard Maria say though her earpiece.
Another present Nick made her was a new set of earpieces for hearing and communication between all of them.Apparently Stark was there and close enough when she had complained of not having a communication earpiece to her father.Well now she did and she was ready to kick some ass.And not die.

"Hey,Cap,how do we know the good guys from the bad guys?"she heard Sam ask as she neared them.They were almost on the cliffhanger of the building.Her fingers already working faster than her brain.
