It was a random evening. I just came back from work.

After a warm shower, I walk to my balcony and look at the city.

My phone rang suddenly.

"Hey," I answer.

"Tobias," It was Cara.

"Hello, Cara,"

"Hi, I actually called you because I got a promotion at work and I want us all to meet again. At my place though,"

"Oh. That's awesome. Congratulations! I'll be there,"

"And also, get Avyanna too. I don't have her number and tell her sorry I wasn't able to tell her personally,"

"Okay, when is it though?"

"Tomorrow night. Saturday,"

"Ah, okay, we'll be there,"

"Great, see you,"

I hang up and smile. It'll be good to meet up again.

Cara asked me to bring Avyanna along, so I walk up to her front door and knock.

She opens it eating a bar of chocolate and in her pyjamas.

Her eyes go wide for some reason, "Tobias, hi,"

"Hello," I reply.

"Come in," She stepped aside. "Let me just go in and change,"

"It's alright, don't worry, you look good," I say and mentally face palm.

"Uh, okay, thanks?" She sat down on the sofa and I sit opposite her.

"Yeah, So, I came to tell you that Cara invited us to her house tomorrow. She got a promotion it seems," I say.

She nods, "Is it? Nice, I'll be there,"

I look at her, silent, if she wants to talk but she keeps quiet.

"Uh, well then—"

"I was wondering if you would accompany me to the store," She says.

"Um, where?" I repeat.

"The store. I want to buy something for Cara and you know her well...only if you're okay though," She looks at me.

"Well, sure. When?" I ask.

"If you don't have work tomorrow then, 10?" She stands up and gets me a glass of water which I didn't need but don't refuse.

"Alright," I nod.

"Thanks," She smiles.

We meet the next day.

"Where to?" I ask.

She gripped her steering wheel and leaned forward looking at something on the road. "Somewhere nearby. Do you have anything in mind?"

"Cara likes vases. We might...you know," I shrug.

"Nice, see this why I bring you along," She laughs.

I shrug and smile.

We go to the vase store.

"Colour preferences?" She asks me.

"Blue maybe...I don't know," I shrug.

She used to like blue a long time ago. I never really bothered to ask what her favourite colour was.

"I'm gonna take a black one," She says.

"Your preference?" I smirk at her.

"Not really." She grins. "But, sort of, you can say,"

While returning, we were talking.

"So, how's work and everything?" She asks.

"Well, Johanna has been bringing up new policies and I'm seeing them through as of now. Nothing much," I shrug.

"Oooh, fancy stuff, huh?" She smirks.

"Ah, nothing like that," I brush it off.

Just then, I see a flash and someone runs by.

"Hold it!" She hands me the vase and runs behind the person. I follow as fast as I can.

They face each other in a street corner.

"Give me my wallet," She demands.

"I didn't steal it to give it back, darling," The man smirks.

"Man, just hand it." She stretches her hand out. "I don't want to be mean or something."

He laughs, "Mean? What are you going to do? Tell mummy?"

"Give it to her," I say, trying to contribute.

"Oooh, the brother or the boyfriend?" He asks.

"Tobias," She looks at me and I nod and step back, keeping the vase away.

"I meant- 'stay out of this', not- 'Come and help me," She repeats.

Without warning, she punches the man on the nose. Should hurt.

"You will regret that," He charged on her but she kicks his shin, causing him to fall down.

She grabs her wallet and bends down, giving the man some money, "Here."

The man rolls his eyes.

"It's hard earned, you know," She smiles.

He finally takes it, "Thanks,"

"Get some food," She nods and looks at me. I grab the vase and follow.

"Where did you learn to fight?" I ask her.

"My parents taught me," She replies.

"All this?" I raise my eyebrow.

"Well, yes. We were Dauntless. You know how that goes," She laughs.

"That's...pretty good fighting. You must have had a lot of practice," I say.

"Yeah, lots." She smirked. "Come on, we don't want to be late."

"Hey, also," I look at her. "Don't do that often. It's dangerous."

"Oh, yeah? Never knew that, Tob," She laughed and getting into the car.

"Hey!" I follow. "For real, that's outrageous and reckless."

"Well," She smiles at me. "That's primarily why I like it,"

"Right..." I look at her and then for some reason I can't look away.

"What?" She smirks.

I grab my seat belt. "Nothing at all. Also, did you call me Tob?"

"I might have. Do you mind?" She grins.

"Don't think so," I look outside the window and grin.

With that, we drive to Cara's.
