The next day,

"Hey, why don't you go on?" She asks as she parks by the building. "I'll change and come. Maybe something party worthy."

"You look just fine, Avyanna. Come on," I step out.

"You think?" She asks from inside.

"Yeah," I nod.

"Okay, I'm taking your word," She steps out.

"You better do," I laugh.

My hand almost reaches hers as she walking beside me, our fingers brushing by.

"So, which floor?" She asks.

"Fourth, I'm told," I answer.

"What's that supposed to mean?" She laughs, getting into the lift.

We go inside Cara's apartment and I swear I don't know where Avyanna disappeared.

As for me, I found Amar and George in a corner. But before joining them, I wave at Cara.

"Congratulations, Cara," I grin.

"Thanks," She nods.

"Uh, did you meet Avyanna?" I ask, before I can help myself.

"Yeah, she gave me a lovely vase. Why?" She asks.

"No reason, see you, Cara," I nod. "Thanks for the party,"

I join Amar and George again.

"Aha! Look whose here!" Amar wrapped his arms around me even though I met his seven seconds ago.

"Good...to see you too... Amar," I awkwardly pat him on the back.

I'm fine with hugs now, though. I'm getting used to it.

"So, how's everything?" George asks me.

"It's going on," I shrug.

"Hey, George, did you tell him about your new girlfriend?" Amar nudges George, who immediately groans.

"What is all this about?" I ask.

"He saw me with a girl and now he assumes that she is my girlfriend," He sighs.

"Amar?" I roll my eyes.

"She didn't stop smiling the whole time he was talking!" Amar laughs.

"I am an amusing human being, Amar!" He laughs.

"Oh yeah?" Amar rolls his eyes. "She likes you. Take it from me."

"What, Amar, seems like you have some experience in this area?" I laugh.

"Oh, yeah, boy, I did. I did. Not now. But before," Amar smirks.

"Yeah, you're old now," George laughs, making Amar punch his arm.

I shake my head and stand up to see Christina and Avyanna out in the balcony. I open the glass door, joining them.

"What are you both doing out here?" I ask, leaning on the railing beside Christina.

"I came like three seconds before you did," Christina takes a sip from her drink.

"Five seconds," Avyanna follows.

"Fine! Five," She rolls her eyes.

Christina looks at me and winks. I don't understand what's going on. I raise my eyebrows, trying to communicate that but she looks away.

"Uh, I'll get another drink," She announces and leaves, leaving an empty space between Avyanna and me.

"What was that about?" Avyanna laughs.

"No idea," I grin.

"I don't have smallpox. You can come closer," She grins at me.

"Why don't you do that?" I grin back.

"Well," She moves closer, our shoulders touching.

"Better, I didn't want to be talking over a microphone to be audible," I say, making her laugh.

"Non alcohol, my foot. Something about alcohol, huh?" She looks down at her drink. "Something that makes you feel better."

"Really?" I look down at mine.

"Really. For once, you feel like you have a friend with whom you can share anything for a night," She grins at me.

"Yeah, but alcohol is the friend with consequences," I shrug.

"Everything has consequences," She smiles.

"Let me rephrase that: Alcohol is the friend with bad consequences," I say.

She laughs. "You got me there."

I don't answer but just smile.

"Thanks for that day," She says.

"You can stop thanking me now. It's okay." I shrug. "And, you can talk to us you know. If anything. If you want to."

"Yeah. Christina is nice to talk to," She says.

"And I'm not?" I laugh.

"Nope. Can never trust you," She nudges me, making me give her a look. "Sorry. I was kidding."

"I know," I roll my eyes.

"So, you have a tattoo, huh?" She asks.

"Very well spotted," I smirk.

"I never walked behind you to see it," She shrugs. "So what is it?"

"Huh?"

"Your tattoo. What is it?"

"Well, I don't know if it's a tattoo. Tattoos maybe," I say. "They're Dauntless flames and faction symbols,"

"That's....nice," She swallows and looks away. Something made her sad.

"Do you have any?" I ask.

"Few, yeah," She says.

"Few. Nice," I look at her.

"Yeah," She shrugs.

"That's nice, " I say. "Where did you get them?"

"One in the city. Two in Europe," She says.

"Huh. Can I see?" I ask, regretting that almost immediately.

"Uh, sure. Except one. It's not in a very friendly place," She laughs.

"I was just kidding," I look away, clearly a lie. And I know she knows that it is a lie.

"Ha, were you?" She smirked.

"Yeah," I scoff.

"Fine," She sipped her drink.

Matthew joins us in a moment.

"Aren't you both coming?" He asks.

"Coming where?" She asks.

"The restaurant!" He stares at us.

"Restaurant?" I ask.

"It's Cara, guys. She likes formal. She arranged dinner for us at the restaurant down the street," He says.

"She arranged a what?!" She laughs.

"This was just a meet up. We're meeting up in a half an hour, I'll send you the location. Wear formal," He nods and leaves.

She looks at me. "What?"

"Yeah, I know, right?" I laugh.
