Meeting the Parents - Part Two

ᴀᴠʏᴀɴɴᴀ

I yawn as I wake up. The time's 8:30. Tobias is still sleeping beside me.

It is very rare I wake up before him.

I smile a little, thinking what I ever did to deserve half the man he is. The fact that I ran away disturbs me so much yet, I don't regret it. And that disturbs me even more.

But Tobias, he never asked me about the past until I told him. He never brings it up. He never thinks my past defines who I am now. And that's oddly comforting.

I graze my knuckles against his cheek. He makes a sound and pulls me close.

"It's 8:30," I say.

"Hm," He nods. I run my hand through his hair. It has grown a little longer.

Tobias is wearing his pants but his shirt is still somewhere on the floor. I have my shirt on but it's unbuttoned.

Last night is coming back to me. Tobias slowly woke up.

"What's the time?" He yawns.

"Nine," I answer. "Think this is the latest you've stayed in bed? Is that a record?"

"After last night, can you blame me?" He grins.

I roll my eyes, trying to hide how I'm going red.

He kisses my cheek, sitting up.

"I have to go meet dad," I say, sitting up too.

"Nice," He gives me a thumbs up.

"I'll ask him when we can meet him?"

He sighs. "Sure."

I nod, standing up and grabbing a glass of water.

I meet dad later that day. We go out for a bit.

"So, how did the meeting go?" He asks.

"What meeting?" I ask.

"With Evelyn?"

"Oh, it couldn't go better," I smile, mostly to myself.

"Is Tobias nice?" He asks. "A nice guy?"

"Yeah," I look down and shrug.

"He treats you well?"

"Of course."

"I should meet him."

"You should meet him," I say.

"How about next week?" He suggests.

"You seem excited," I nudge him.

He rolls his eyes. "Sure."

And soon, next week came.

Tobias tries to fix his hair for the third time in the last ten minutes.

"Should I change?" He asks. "This shirt is fine, right?"

"We're only going to meet him, Tobias. You don't have to impress him," I say, sarcastically.

He rolls his eyes. "So this is how it felt,"

Dad invited us for dinner at his house. I personally think it's to show off his cooking skills.

"Come on," I press a kiss on his cheek and grab the keys.

Avyanna drives to Itasca, all dressed up.

I'll be honest, I'm a little nervous. Just a little.
