"You're right mother, I couldn't have chosen a better bride"
Virginia eyed him in utmost annoyance.

Chosen a better bride my foot!

She snorted inwardly and turns away before she strangles his lying self in front of his mother.

"Come on kids,dinner must be served" Katy nudges them both making their foreheads collide.
Virginia glares at him,wishing her glare could bore a hole into his handsome head.

Virginia's eyes widen at her thoughts.
Did she just say handsome head?
A blush creeps up her face.

She bit her lips,looking away to avoid his gaze.

Kevin narrowed his eyes infinitesimally.
Did she just blush?
Or maybe it was his imagination..
Virginia never smiled then what in the world will make her blush?

Dismissing his thoughts, he turned and made his way towards the stairs,descended and headed for the dinning table.

"Where's father?" Kevin asked Katy as he pushed back a chair to sit while one of the maids proceeded to serve him his food.
Katy sighed,stabbing the spaghetti on her plate with a fork.

"He'll be working late today. He always works late and it tires him. If only you could change your decision"
Kevin stares down at his plate, refusing to feel any guilt trying to creep up his system.

"My sisters are there mom. They can help"
"You don't expect your father to count on your sisters when he has you son. Why don't you want to at least consider.."

"Mother please. Don't start. We've gone over this a thousand times. I've told you before and I'm telling you again,I'm not interested in running dads company. I'm not okay! So...just... Drop it!"
Virginia flinches in her seat at his hard tone..
She looks from both mother and son, wondering if she should leave them alone to discuss.

"I'm not asking you to forfeit your music career. I'm just asking you to at least help. To take off some of the load on your father so he can rest also. He's not as strong as he was in his youthful days and instead of thinking of yourself, think about your father's health for just a second" Katy snaps

"What are you implying mother?"
"Exactly what you think I'm implying Kevin! You're being selfish! What will it take to go to the company at least three or two times a week to take over so your father can also rest? Tell me what will it take!" Katy continued, pushing her plate back in anger and then standing up.

Virginia watched as Kevin clenched his jaw,gripping the edge of the table hard.
The veins on his forehead visible.
"Mother you don't..." He began but Katy raised her hand midair,stopping him.

"Enough! I've had enough of your stupid excuses. You can do whatever the hell you want. If Anything happens to your father,just know his blood will be on your head"
She turned.
"Maya!"
A maid came running out towards her.
She bowed.
"Yes ma'am"
"Clean my plate. Serve the rest amongst the servants. I lost my appetite. Show miss Reynolds my sons room, they'll be sharing the same room. And provide her some clothes"

Katy ordered and turned, walking away.

Virginia pushed her plate aside, suddenly losing her appetite.
She couldn't even have time to process the fact that they were spending the night and she was sharing the room with Kevin.
She couldn't even argue with Kevin due to the tension.
Sighing,she got up and followed the maid to Kevin's room.

It was half past nine pm when Virginia took her bath and put on the pyjamas she'd been given.
Grabbing a spare duvet from the neatly laid bed,she proceeded towards the couch and laid down.
Waiting..
Waiting for Kevin to show up.
But he didn't.
He didn't show up, until sleep came knocking at her door..
