Episode 18

**
"Kevin? Kevin? Kevin!"

"Hmm?" Kevin blinked turning to face Virginia who was staring at him curiously.
"Hmm?' He repeated absentmindedly.
"You okay? Shall I call the doctor?" She questioned.

"No no. I'm fine. I just kinda zoned out. I guess that's what happens when you think of narcissistic, chauvinistic perverts like your stupid cousin, you find your brain cells travelling to space" he replied with a frown.

Virginia stared at him incredulously, letting his words sink into her brain before she burst out laughing.

At the sound of her hearty laughter, Kevin whipped his head in her direction so fast he swore he heard a crack.
But he couldn't care less.
Who would even care?
His neck could snap and he could choke to death for all he cared.
He certainly couldn't care if he choked to death for hearing Virginia laugh like that was like an eclipse.

It came rarely yet when it occurred, it was unmistakably beautiful.
And her laughter was like music to his ears. A perfect symphony that travelled through the air made for his ears only.

Virginia clutched her belly as her sides began to hurt from laughing too hard.
"I didn't understand a single thing but..." She hiccupped between laughter
"That comparison was out of the world"

Kevin grinned sheepishly, watching her with pure delight.
His gaze fell on the dips on both sides of her cheeks.
Holy mother of Jesus!
Save us from all iniquities!
She had dimples too?!

Oh somebody f*ck him with a damn shovel.
He was so done for.

He continued to watch her eyes lighten up.
The sunlight kissing her dark skin making him think of hot chocolate.
Her lips were a perfect Cupid shape accentuating her features.
"Beautiful" he muttered.

"What?"
He looked up to see her staring at him In confusion.
"Hmm?" He blinked again.

Focus Kevin!

"What did you say?" She repeated
"Beautiful. You're beautiful"  he replied without hesitation.
Virginia's eyes widened at his sudden bluntness.
Not that he wasn't blunt. But this was quite new.

"Are.. You... Are you complimenting me?" She stuttered, wondering why she was suddenly feeling flustered.

"Why? Am I not worthy of giving compliments?" He inquired
"No.. It's just you're .." She trailed off, ransacking her brain for the right word.
Why the hell was she stuttering?
And why the hell was she at a loss for words?
This had never happened before especially when it came to a jerk like Kevin.

"A jerk?" He offered, a wry smile playing along his lips.
She bit her lip for a moment.
"Well calling you jerk is an understatement"

Kevin chuckled.
"I agree. I'm sure you were thinking something along the lines of...."
"Obnoxious, annoying, egoistic, proud, womanizer, pedophile.." Virginia finished for him.
Kevin gasped dramatically, bringing his hands up to clutch his chest,feigning hurt.
"A pedophile? Womanizer? You wound me Virginia. I'm deeply hurt"

Virginia shook her head, a tiny smile threatening to spread.
Since when did he get comfortable around her enough to joke with her.

"You're acting Weird"
"Well that's because I'm so bored unless you'll agree to sneak me out of this place"
"No way! You're staying here until the doctor deems it fit to let you go" she frowned.

Kevin grumbled as he sank into the bed, a scowl on his face.
Stupid hospital.

Virginia scowled as she stomped into the kitchen for the third godamn time today..
Why?
All because that obnoxious jerk  had returned to his old self.
She slammed the plate of untouched food onto the counter and grabbed a frying pan, slamming it onto the burner as she stormed the kitchen in circles searching for some eggs.
