*****Virginia shut the door behind her rather loudly, the moment she stepped into her room. Without bothering to take off her clothes, she sank onto the bed, pulling the pillow to her face and groaning loudly.
She was furious, livid and above all, hurt.
She hadn't waited to hear Kevin's response. There was no need. All the answers she needed had been bare right before her. His eyes said it all.
She pulled the pillow away from her face and clutched it to her chest.
It hurt..
It f*cking hurt.
It felt like a rejection.
And she didn't know what to do with it?How do you even nurse a pain that you can't even touch? A pain that you can feel yet can't touch?
F*cking horrible.
It was horrible. And only one man was responsible for this.
A man she had fallen hopelessly in love with.****
It was almost five pm when Virginia dragged herself out of the room into the kitchen. She was still living here for free and her differences with Kevin didn't mean she didn't have to fulfill her end of the bargain. She sighed, reaching for the chopping board."Virginia" she felt a hand on her shoulder and she jumped back I'm fright, dropping the board. It dropped and fell on her foot. She yelped in pain, squatting to take a look at her foot.
Kevin knelt before her as well, skimming his fingers over her toes.
"I'm sorry. I ...I didn't mean to startle you"
Virginia pulled her foot away from his grasp and straightened up, refusing to look him in the eye.
"It's fine" she muttered and reached for a knife and then the bowl of washed carrots."Virginia.. Can..can we talk?" Kevin asked quietly straightening up too.
No response.
The only sound that could be heard was the harsh sounds of thd knife making contact with the wooden board."Virginia" Kevin suddenly pulled the knife out of her grasp and spun her around, gripping her waist.
"What?" She finally asked with a sigh.
"I want to talk baby. Please"God, he was too close. His scent was driving her crazy.
"There's nothing to talk about Kevin. It's best if we put an end to this. I don't want to be caught in the middle of a love triangle." She averted his gaze.Kevin frowned.
End? Put an end to what?
End as in breakup? No...
She couldn't possibly be insinuating they end their relationship could she?"I know you don't like this situation but please just.... We can't.." He paused with a sigh
"I'm sorry love. I just..."
"I'm sorry too Kevin..." Virginia cut in.Sorry for falling in love with you.
She looked down at her feet, suddenly finding it interesting. She bit her lip when Kevin hooked his finger under her chin and lifted her head up slowly. She blinked, staring into those sea blue orbs she had come to love so much.
"We..we can't breakup Virginia" he spoke, lips dangerously close to hers. So close his warm breath grazed her cheeks."Why can't we?" She asked.
"Because..." He trailed off, his finger making it's way upwards, stroking and caressing her cheeks ever so softly and lightly she thought she was imagining it. Sparks erupted within her. Climbing from the tip of her toes and travelling up her spine.
Sweet chills run through her. She sighed softly, leaning into his touch, her eyes falling shut involuntarily.Kevin watched her reacting to his touches. She was beautiful. Unmistakeably and utterly beautiful. Her dark skin glowing, a prefect contrast to his pale one. He watched her bite her lip softly, a low moan erupting from her. His thumb had left her cheeks and was tracing the curves of her lips. He watched her. Dumbstruck. Did he want to break up with her?
No. God no. For some reason, breaking up with her was the last thing on his mind. He wanted her. Mind, body and soul. For a while, he thought he was already in love with her but every thing went down hill the moment Selena appeared at his doorstep, all bruised up and bleeding. Everything. Everything he had felt for her came rushing back, hitting him like a moving truck. Granted, he was feeling all sorts of things. But love? Did he still love Selena? He couldn't tell.
She had appeared at a time when he clearly wasn't prepared. A time when he was finally ready to move on. And then all his feelings got mixed up. Seeing her again had stirred up past memories. Memories which he had never really been able to forget. Memories which he had held on to for years.
