"It all started when I was thirteen.."

Virginia began, her lips trembling as she blinked rapidly trying to force away the the rush of pain coming back to her just like it had years ago.
She had tried to get past it.
She really had.
Yet anytime, she tried to talk about her past, it was like going back in time to relieve it all over again.
No matter how many years that had seemed to pass by, she always felt like she was thirteen again..

With her legs forced apart by women she had never met before.
Incantations going around her like a whirlwind.
The pouring of libation to some gods by her grandmother.
And the glass.
The broken piece of glass which had been used to cut her womanhood.
She could still feel the roughness of the broken glass as it touched her skin.
It wasn't sharp like a knife or blade.
It would have been so much easier that way because sharp object definitely cut faster.
And rough objects, they took a lot of energy and time to cut into anything..
She could still feel the unknown woman pressing the rough edge of the glass into her delicate flesh, probing and probing as her flesh started to cut with every scream she gave out. Blood seeping out like a tap and staining her thighs.
She could still feel the pain when it pierced into the flesh anytime shifted in an attempt to get away.
She whimpered.

"Virginia.. Hey.." Kevin shook her slightly when a choked sob escaped her.
"Come" taking her by the hand, he led her back into the living room and pushed her gently into the sofa.
Taking a seat beside her, he cupped her face gently forcing her to look into his eyes.

"Don't." he shook his head slowly
"Don't tell me. You aren't ready yet. Don't say anything. I understand" he assured her.
Even he always had a hard time relieving certain parts of his past.
But it wasn't to this extent.
Sure he always had a hard time but that didn't mean he never talked about.
He did but he just didn't never wanted to talk about it.

But watching Virginia breakdown like this, it seemed like it was something much more.
Something that couldn't just be spoken with the mouth and everything will suddenly be okay with a few words of encouragement

Kevin suddenly pulled her to him, wrapping his arms around her.
She didn't resist. She buried her face into his chest, her arms going around his torso, gripping hard as her muffled sobs increased into painful cries.

Kevin's heart squeezed with every sob that escaped her and with every tear that fell down her cheeks, wetting his chest.
He continued to hold her tightly, caressing her hair softly as he let her cry out to her heart's content.

It was until several minutes later that Virginia stopped crying altogether. Yet Kevin's arms remained around her, listening to her steady breaths.
She didn't make a move either. She'd never felt this warm and comfortable in someone else's arms in a long time.
Not even her very own parents.

Hell, it had been years since she last hugged them.
Her relationship with her parents had completely strained since the day they had deceived and sent her to their hometown, and left her in the arms of strange women only for her genitals to be mutilated in the most painful way..
It was something she couldn't forgive nor forget no matter how much she wanted to.

She had to stopped being a normal girl since that day...

Virginia let out a tired sigh as she lifted her feet off the floor and placed them on the sofa, curling herself into a ball, using Kevin's chest as a pillow.
A very comfortable pillow.

"You okay?" Kevin asked after a while, stroking her hair.
"Want me to get you something? You hungry?"

Virginia shook her head.
"No.. Just want to sleep" she mumbled.
"Okay" Kevin got off the couch, carrying her in his arms as he walked up the stairs, maneuvering his way towards the guestroom where she occupied.
