A large smile filled her lips as she walked into the lab that had been hidden away beneath an antiques store in Brooklyn. Just as promised, the woman had been pulled from the camp and returned to the lab after Steve had officially been selected for the experiment. She had been taken ahead of Steve and Peggy in order to help Abraham and Howard prepare for the big day they had ahead of them.

"Nettie!" Howard grinned at the sight of his best friend. As soon as she got close enough, he didn't hesitate to wrap the woman up in a hug, spinning her around slightly. Anyone who didn't know them might have mistaken them as a couple being reunited after months apart rather than friends who had spent a week apart.

"It's good to see you, too, Howard," she chuckled once he set her down, holding her at arms length.

"Looks like you've gained some muscle," Howard gave her arms a squeeze. "Maybe I'll be able to give my men some time off. Just have you go everywhere with me?"

"Only if you're staying here," Venetia shook her head in amusement. "How is everything looking?"

"Just as it was when you left, right on track." He assured her as they walked around, letting her take a look at the machines. Her smile never wavered, happy to be back where she felt the most comfortable. "We just need your string bean to get here so we can get things started."

"Don't call him that," she shook her head at his nickname for the young soldier.

"Why not? It's the truth," he shrugged, not seeing the big deal.

"Would you want people calling you a vapid womanizing man-child?" She questioned. "Cause that's true."

"Fair point," he nodded. "No string bean, just Rogers. So what's he like?"

"Kind and wanting to help people, exactly what we need for this," she told him.

"So he doesn't tickle your fancy then," he commented, one of his dark brows raised slightly. "Anyone back in Jersey give you a little tickle?"

"What?" Her brows furrowed at his question. "I was there to work, Howard. Get your mind out of the gutter."

"Didn't you know, I rented a penthouse there." He chuckled, wrapping an arm around her shoulders.

"So I take it that it was also your idea to have the men address me as Doctor?" She raised a brow at him, already knowing the answer to her own question.

"Hey, you're smarter than half the men I know that do have doctorates." He defended himself, not ashamed from his actions in the slightest. "You'd probably already have one if you were a man, you and I both know that."
