BALLADE.
Walking into the LGBTQ+ Society meeting, Jackie halted. It had been a while since she had attended one, hence why there were so many unfamiliar faces. People were wearing their pride pins and others were eating biscuits and drinking tea in some of the sofas, while Archie stood by a table not far from the entrance. He waved at Jackie, giving her his huge smile before adjusting his glasses on his nose. She unbuttoned her coat and loosened the scarf around her neck, making her way towards Archie. He didn't seem any different, Jackie noted. He seemed like a perfectly normal awkward gay bloke who was happy to see a mate stroll into a society meeting.
"Hi, Jackie, 'alright?" Archie asked, handing her a pen. "Want a badge?"
"A badge?"
She looked down on the table where Archie gestured and found sticky badges strewn all across it. All imaginable types of sexualities, identities, genders, and everything in between stood on each of them, with just enough space for someone to write their name down along. Jackie spotted the bisexual one and wrote her name. Jackie and I'm bisexual and proud. She put it on her jumper under her coat, stroking it till it stuck to the fabric. That being done, she finally met Archie's eyes again, giving him the pen back.
"Have a minute?"
Archie looked at the two girls he was standing there with, giving them a 'I'll be back in a few' before he walked to one of the corners of the room. Suddenly feeling nervous because she knew she had to confront Archie about all of this, her palms grew sweaty and her throat thick with the effort to swallow. Archie crossed his arms over his chest, giving Jackie a warm smile and sincere blue eyes. He didn't seem at all worried about her wanting to have a chat with him. The music was playing lowly in the background, someone laughed, and someone had brought muffins. It seemed like the wrong place to talk about something like this. Too colourful. Too happy. Her head began to spin a bit.
"What's up?" Archie enquired, sensing something was wrong.
"Last Friday," she began, inhaling till she couldn't no more. "Some mates and I went to a party, when we got home my flatmate had gotten a text from you."
