The funeral was two weeks exactly after his death. The whole time, Jackie had stayed at home in Hawkley with her parents. The University knew the reason for her absence, and so did all her friends, both were understanding and supportive, her mates more than the uni. She made it clear that up until the funeral, she wanted nothing but to be left alone with her family, as she needed time to grieve the loss of her brother in her own time. Everyone understood, though Tiana and Finn both sent texts wishing her a good day every single morning, which Jackie appreciated more than she could express. She even got a text from Harry, which she read over and over and over again, she didn't know why.
Harry
I am so sorry, Jacks. Cannot imagine what you're going through. You know how to reach me if you need to talk. xxBut Harry kind of knew what she was going through, didn't he? He lost his mother at the age of 12, the trauma that caused him was with him still, you could see it in the way he acted and treated the people around him. The only other person she knew of that had lost someone in their close family, was Harry. No one knew the pain it caused, and how little you wanted to get out of bed most days, how hard it was to put words to how you were feeling because doing so made you relive everything again. She thought about Harry some of the time, thought about the text he sent. Even though she asked him not to contact her till she worked everything out herself, she was grateful he sent her that text. All her friends had, but it was Harry's she found herself getting reassured by.
Though both Alison and George wanted Edward to be buried at the Picot Farm, they thought it would be better to raise his gravestone at the West Liss Cemetery. For all they knew, Jackie wouldn't take over the farm after them, leaving Edward's grave on someone else's property. Regardless, the West Liss Cemetery was quaint and pretty, on the outside of the small town Liss just an 8-minute drive from the farm. Though the town itself consisted mostly of farms as well. Jackie came along when they were going to find a place for Edward, though she stood by the 'Liss Cemetery' sign that greeted you as you drove here.
