Jackie still felt a tinge of adrenaline when she stepped out of Queen's Theatre and onto Shaftesbury Avenue in Soho, London. Along the street and hung elegantly between the buildings on either side, grand Christmas lights decorated the West End in white, silver, and blue. It was just passed 11pm, the streets not as busy as they usually were during Christmas time, but still people walked past, and some drunken students shouted further down by Piccadilly Circus. Jackie turned to her colleagues, smiling at something Elizabeth said. Tiny specs of snow fell slowly from the sky, melting the second it came into contact with the world beneath, and Jackie wiped a flake from her eyelash before she zoned back into the conversation.

The four of them were all violinist, and though they hadn't been the only ones at the performance, they got on best and therefore kept together. Every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, they would start their day together and end it likewise. It was good having this routine, made it so there was always something to look forward to.

"Who is playing tomorrow?" Another colleague, Josh, asked, apologising to a pedestrian as he walked out of the theatre and right in their path. He had hair so white you would think he was an old man if you approached him from behind, but his tall build and broad shoulders convinced people otherwise.

"I'm playing the 4pm one." Jackie announced, giving the three before her a little beam.

"Me too!" Jess said, her short green dyed hair whipping along with her head as she turned to look at Jackie. "We could meet up beforehand and do lunch?"

"Maybe," Jackie nodded, though she scrunched up her face in a sad grimace. "I'll have to catch an earlier train."

Jess 'ahh'd, chest moving with a deep sigh. "Forget you don't live in the city. I could meet you at Clapham Junction, though, and we could do it near there."

The fact that people would do stuff like that for her, go out of their way to be with her, still made Jackie blush. "Yeah, alright. I'll text you when I leave Hawkley."
